Grant’s Farm (second visit this season, first with pics!)

Filed Under Outings, St. Louis, This Rocks, Two Months | 6 Comments

Title says it all, really. We love Grant’s Farm and just went for the second time this year. Bailey LOVES it. She gets so excited to “Ride choo choo train” (the tram) and “see animals all day long.” We met up with Amy and Kaitlynn, and Kim and Mackenzie and Tristan. We all parked close together and the girls were happy to see each other. I got a picture of them together before we went in and met the rest of our group.

And yes, I had Bailey’s stroller. She hates it with a passion and so I don’t make her get in it too often. Only if we are walking really far. And usually if we are going through a parking lot. If we ever have another child I guess I don’t need to invest in a double stroller. Really the stroller is just my diaper bag carrier. And when we go shopping it’s my clothes rack!

I love that you ride a tram to get into the park. I would say the ride is about 15 minutes but can be longer on a really busy day or if there are a lot of animals in the road. The rule is that kids sit toward the inside and adults sit on the seats along the edge. So that you don’t lose stuff… or a kid… well today I turned and reached toward Bailey who was sitting on the inside and somehow my shoe (Birkenstock sandal) went FLYING off and landed on the ground. If you know me IRL you know that I tend to have outbursts so of course without even thinking I was all “OMG my shoe! My shoe is over there!” And the tram tour guide started asking me on the microphone about it. He couldn’t get the driver’s attention in time to stop (the tram is like four 10-row cars long) so they had to radio the next tram to pick it up. So then on the microphone he had to ask me what color my shoe was and everything. I’m glad they got it for me because that would be like walking through the zoo without a shoe… ick! Plus not a cheap shoe, either.

Here is Bailey before the tram ride started and before the shoe incident.

She fed a goat with a bottle for the first time today. She asked me about it a couple times. I kept trying to blow it off because I know the goats are a little psycho sometimes if you go in their pen. Like they will start nipping at your clothes, nudging you (not gently, either!) and put their front feet up on your leg to reach the bottles. Bailey was NOT happy with just feeding them through the fence- she wanted to go in there. This picture was taken within the first ten seconds while it was still fun, before she had three goats climbing on her and fighting over a bottle. She kind of freaked out and I was trying to get the lens cap on my camera and stuff it in my pocket because the goat area is so dusty AND I was afraid they would bite at it. Now when I ask her about feeding the goats she says, “No no goats! All done goats!” We will probably try another time through the fence.

And toward the end of our visit, by the camels. You can buy food to feed the camels and Bailey is always sticking her hand in the food dispensers to see if there is anything in there. They’re like those gumball/candy machines where you put in a quarter and turn the dial. She is such a scavenger.

Overall it was a really fun day and I am looking forward to going back! I am so glad we got a parking pass again so that we can go whenever we want. It is a great way to spend a morning because it’s closer than the zoo and smaller/less crowded so the kids can run around more.

First trip to the pool- Aquaport for a church volunteer appreciation event

These pictures were taken at Alison’s 3rd birthday party. She’s the little girl I used to take care of, so it was fun to see her and her family again! I can’t believe how big she’s gotten.

Bailey’s Dedication at Church

Filed Under Church, Parties, Two Months | 3 Comments

Bailey was dedicated this morning at our church, so I wanted to get a bunch of pictures posted for everyone. She is wearing a gown and bonnet that my mom’s friend made- I loved it but I also thought it was a little over the top :) But when else can you do this?

Getting a little stressd about the whole bonnet situation…

And here is the dedication itself- there were two other babies being dedicated (different from infant baptism because water isn’t used- this is just a symbol of the commitment on the part of the parents and the church). There were two other babies being dedicated today as well.

We had a lunch at our house today after church, just for family and a few friends. Here are some pictures from Bailey’s first “party.”

My Big Girl

She rolled over twice today from her stomach to her back! Just for daddy- I missed it- but I’m sure that means she’ll be doing it a lot more now! And she will be three months old in a little less than 24 hours.

Pacifier

Filed Under Two Months | 2 Comments

Suddenly sometime last night Bailey decided she likes pacifiers… after refusing them for almost three months now (except like the week she was born) she has so far taken a Mam one (which were her most hated ones before) and today she has been using a Soothie. Who knows how their little minds work. Maybe now my finger can get a rest.

Fourth of July Photos

Getting ready to go… I’m not a big fan of red on pale babies so we skipped the 4th of July outfits and got this cute shirt instead.

We went to a barbecue at my friend Faith’s. Bailey hates the heat just like her mommy. We were outside for about two minutes and she had a meltdown, so I had a great excuse to come back in!

Bailey and Grampa

My mom watched Bailey while Jonathon and I went to see fireworks with my dad and my grandpa… but I forgot to bring my camera for that :(

I know I still haven’t posted our Fourth of July pictures, but I haven’t transferred them to the computer yet and I’m stuck sitting here while I feed her. So in the meantime, here are some cute pictures from her bath last night.

She was trying to lean over and suck on the faucet… and I didn’t notice until I was uploading these pictures, but you can see her reflection in the faucet. Pretty cool.

If I’m not around much in the next few days, I am entering Crazy Wedding Weekend and I am going to be super busy. But I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures.

Eleven Weeks Old

Filed Under Two Months, Week by Week | 2 Comments

Bailey is 11 weeks old today. I celebrated by FINALLY going back to the gym for the first time. It was a long-overdue visit. We had a relaxing weekend with friends and family. No major news to report except that Bailey keeps smiling more and more, and she is consistently sleeping 7 to 9 hours at night during her first stretch.

On Wednesday, we are going to a party for the Fourth but not sure what we are doing yet for watching fireworks. I am in a wedding this Saturday, so the second half of our week will be really busy with the bachelorette party and rehearsal and everything.

I had to get some pictures in her cute jammies from her Great-Grandma! Check out the feet on them!

Grammy watched Bailey while Jonathon and I went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings

Grammy and Grampa at La Plaza Mexican Restaurant last night

And here’s the happy baby about two minutes before the worst poop disaster in the history of the world!

Trying on the hat that matches her swimsuit in anticipation of a trip to the pool next week

More Baby Einstein mat fun! And Chloe had to be close enough to watch :)

Adventures in Poop-cleaning

Filed Under Random, Sleep, Two Months | 1 Comment

If you really want the whole story, here it is. I wrote about it on my other blog yesterday.

Otherwise, I will just say that yesterday was horrible and today HAS to be better. Bailey slept from 11 last night until 6:30 this morning, then ate and went back to bed until 11:10. Thank God.

Off to begin a busy day, but had to post some cute new pictures of Bailey first! Oh, and by the way, she slept 8.5 hours Thursday night, then ate and then slept another 2 hours. Last night she did 8 hours and then ate and has been back asleep for about an hour now. Yay for my girl!

My Baby is Sick :(

Filed Under Complaining, Doctor Stuff, Two Months | 1 Comment

In lieu of a Wordless Wednesday post today, I’m going to tell you the sad story of my sick baby. Well, if I am up to it later I might do a WW post… but anyway, on to more important things: Bailey has her first cold.

First Jonathon was sick, and then me, and within about a day of me showing Symptoms Bailey was also getting sniffly… so therefore I am convinced she caught it from Jonathon and not me. But that’s neither here nor there. She started out sniffly on Monday night and I called and made her a doctor appt. Her pediatrician is out of town so she was supposed to see someone else in the practice. Well then on Tuesday she seemed fine so I cancelled the appointment. Of course. Only to have her crabby and very congested last night. So I got up this morning and got her an appointment for 11:30 today.

She saw a nurse practitioner in the same office. She said that she has a cold, but thankfully her ears and lungs are clear. She gave us some Pediacare cold med and also told me stuff to do like saline mist/aspirator in her nose before nursing to help her breathe while eating. And sleeping upright as much as possible, and a humidifier in her room. She also said it could take up to two weeks for her to get better at this age! WHAT!?!

Of course my first thought is anger toward Jonathon for bringing sickness into our house. Not that he did it intentionally, but I swear the guy gets sick five times for every one time I do. Normally I don’t even catch what he has. Then I’m frustrated with myself for getting it. ANd I feel bad that Bailey feels bad. She is such a little trooper. She tries to smile and then she’ll cough or her throat will rattle and she will make the cutest little sad face and start whining. Then she’s back to herself again until she remembers she doesn’t feel well.

Does she hate the saline drops and aspirator? Yes she does! I am thinking about discontinuing them as they seem more aggravating than helpful at this point. If she is having trouble eating then I can try them again. For now, she is only nursing on one side but it seems to be enough to keep her happy.

10 Weeks

Filed Under Clothes, Two Months, Week by Week | 6 Comments

I meant to do her ten week post yesterday and the time just slipped away from me. I feel like that’s how her whole life has been so far. It’s just flying by. She is growing so fast. Now she smiles a lot and once in a while we even get a random laugh. She can hold her head up with no problem- no more bobblehead :( Her favorite things right now are her butterfly mobile above her crib, her band people on her bouncy seat, food, and her daddy’s silly faces.

This is Bailey when she was less than 24 hours old:

Notice how the sleeper is just huge on her. It is hanging several inches off her feet, and her legs kept getting caught in the body section of it. The photographer had to pull it tighter around her for her first pictures so she didn’t look lost inside it!

Now here is Bailey at 10 weeks, in the same sleeper. Not much wiggle room left! My girl is growing like crazy, and she seems so happy and healthy.

After I took this last picture I spent a while trying to get a picture of her smiling… and finally had some success…
