Bailey is obsessed. Her TV time is really limited, and she only gets to watch “educational” or toddler shows. So any time I get her out of bed in the morning or after nap? Or when we walk into the living room, or come home from a playdate or class or errands? Here is our conversation:
Bailey: Barnehhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: No, we’re not going to watch Barney.
Bailey: Ernie?
Me: No, we’re not going to watch Ernie.
Bailey: Emmo?
Me: No, WE ARE NOT GOING TO WATCH TV RIGHT NOW!
Bailey: Oh no!
* * * * * * * * *
A few minutes later…
Bailey: Mama? Barneh?
*And the whole cycle starts again.

I love this girl. She is so amazingly talented and the thing is, she also looks like just a kid having fun. I was cheering for her so hard tonight during the balance beam competition. I am so glad she beat Nastia. Their styles are just so different but after Nastia went after her on floor and snatched the gold out from under her, I didn’t want the same thing to happen on beam. And it didn’t.
Well I have a cute photo of Shawn but Wordpress is being a pain and not wanting to load any photos. Click here to see a few. Maybe I’ll get it to work later. It would also be nice if I could load a few new pics of my little girl, but apparently that’s not going to happen tonight.
I am still loving the Olympics and that’s also one of the many reasons I haven’t been blogging as much this week. IT’s cutting into my evening computer time.
Olympic Spirit

I have to admit, I am finally getting caught up in the Olympics. I was busy the night of the opening ceremony and missed most of it, and for a while I just wasn’t all that into it. I caught a little of the qualifying swimming stuff, and a little early gymnastics… but this weekend I have been glued to the tv (well and also stuck with my inlaws here) but I have watched swimming, diving, vault, floor gymnastics, rowing, track, and on and on. I love it. I love the Patriotic feel it gives me, I love seeing all the countries there together. However there are certain countries that I think should not be there- I know the Olympics is not political, but I think terrorism and communism and human rights go beyond just politics… but that is not for me to decide and overall I have enjoyed watching.
I have cheered for people who won, felt so so sorry for the American diver girls who screwed up really bad, been frustrated when other countries beat us. There are too many commercials and interviews but in between all that, it’s so worth it.
Wordless Wednesday- Enthralled

Here Bailey is watching a Baby Einstein video AND reading- her two favorite things!

Bailey is just like her daddy when it comes to tv. She would watch anything that was in front of her, I think. I have caught him watching late night infomercials for stuff like pet supplements, or 2 a.m. documentaries on Korea in the 1940s… right now she likes Baby Einstein a little bit still, but it has to be the “older kid” videos. She is starting to enjoy Dora but only for about five minutes at a time. We try not to watch tv more than once a day but it’s usually either while I’m still waking up in the morning or while I’m getting ready. Okay this is getting not so wordless. I suck at being quiet.
I’ll take a rain check on that!

Diaper shower today was cancelled. We got up and went to church this morning, but there were not a whole lot of people there. LOL, “not a whole lot” at our church is still several hundred. They said that they wanted to wait two weeks so that there would be a better turnout. It is kind of ice-stormish here again. Ameren is really having a rough time this year. So now I can look forward to the diaper shower on the last Sunday of the month… it’s also for my friend Sarah, so hopefully her baby stays in until then!
The woman who was put in my room in the nursery to help was really nice. She was a vet, so I asked her about our cat’s gimpy leg. She made me feel much better about it and agreed that it was probably something not “correctable” but that we could get her pain medication for arthritis or whatever. I’m not buying prescription pain pills for my cat for the next ten years (she’s only six now).
We are currently watching the new season of 24. It seems a little weird so far- which is why I’m also on the computer at the same time. I’m having a hard time getting into it.
