Wordless Wednesday- Hello

I think this is one of my favorite pictures of Bailey, just peeking up at the camera. Yes, I know it is distorted but I think it’s cute and sweet and funny.

Happy (late) Birthday, Ella!

Bailey’s little friend Ella turned one last week. We went to a party for her on Saturday. It was a luau theme and Emily and Christopher did a great job decorating! They also had live music and lots of food.

Daddy and Bailey in the hot sun- It was pretty hot at first-

After an hour or so we found a cooler corner of the yard to hang out in and it was nice and relaxing after that.

Here is Ella eating her birthday cupcake- at first she wasn’t interested at all and got upset when the icing got on her hands. Once everybody stopped watching, she ate it.

And at this party we discovered that Bailey loves being sprayed in the face with squirt bottles!

Thank you Ella for inviting us to your party! We had a great time! Happy birthday, big one year old :)

Kiddie Pool

Filed Under Grandparents, Play, Thirteen Months | 5 Comments

The other day, my parents invited us to come over after Bailey’s nap and swim in the kiddie pool that they got for her. We should have filled it up early and put it in the sun, because the water was really cold. She wasn’t too sure about sitting down in it but we finally convinced her to. She really liked playing with the rubber duckies and running around in the driveway more than anything else. I love her swimsuit (from Aunt Faith), and I think these pictures turned out nice with the sunlight and bright colors. So here are a whole bunch of pictures!

Yum, rubber duck….

Here she is while we were trying to convince her to sit down

And once she finally sat, she realized it wasn’t too bad!

Snappity Snap

Filed Under Cloth Diapering, Thirteen Months | 3 Comments

Check out what I did today. It was a result of being both very brave and also being out of clean diaper covers or pocket diapers. I actually used my Snappi successfully for the first time and put B in a prefold without a cover! Actually I tri-folded one prefold and laid it on top of another, then used the unfolded one to wrap around her and Snappi. The result is a big puffy diaper, but it worked until the other stuff was done drying. And now I know I can do it. I kinda like accessorizing with her diapers. I know this one isn’t exactly a fashion statement but she’s still too little for jewelry and this is something besides clothes and hair that I can play around with.

Right now I am in kind of an anti-disposable diaper phase. I go back and forth with how much I use them (like for outings and stuff) but then I read an article about chemicals in disposables again the other day. So back to all cloth except nighttime, and Sunday mornings at church. Hey, using only 8 or 9 diapers a week cuts our bill down- we can make one pack of Luvs ($6.99 on sale at Target) last a month!

Here she is with her giant puff butt!

Self Portrait- Mommy and Bailey

Filed Under Into Everything, Me, Play, Thirteen Months | 3 Comments

Today Bailey and I did not go anywhere! I know, shocker. We very rarely stay home all day. But I have been feeling overwhelmed about the house being messy and having lots of things to catch up on around here. I am addressing invitations for two different weddings right now and I am a little behind on Avon stuff as well. Plus, I know tomorrow we are going to see my friend Sarah and her little baby, and on Wednesday we have plans with my mom.

I tried to put away laundry and do stuff in my office but Bailey kept getting into everything. We call her Destructo. So we ended up just playing in the living room most of the day. Here are some pictures I took of both of us- I know I have no makeup on but the point is that I have a picture with my daughter, which doesn’t happen too often because usually I am the one behind the camera!

Just a few of her while she was playing- you can kind of tell that she is walking on her tiptoes in this first picture. She does that every once in a while now and I think it’s so cute. I guess she just discovered it but she mostly does it when she’s really excited or being silly about something.

(By the way the summer attire of choice for around the house is a shirt and a diaper, yep, we’re classy like that). Hey, sometimes it’s even just a diaper. Whatever’s cool and comfortable.

And her new favorite activity- trying on Mommy’s shoes!

Friends from Nursing Moms Group

Filed Under Friends, Outings, St. Louis, Thirteen Months | 3 Comments

We went to Grant’s Farm again the other day- it’s one of our favorite places! This time we went with some friends that we met in our nursing moms support group when Bailey was younger. We’ve all gotten to be good friends, and even though we don’t all go to the group very often anymore, we still try to get together for playdates and birthdays and stuff.

Here are the girls when we first entered the park area after the tram ride… not pictured is Gabe, who was having a huge fit about his stroller. From left to right- Bailey, Ella, and Kaitlynn.

We spent some time in the chicken and guinea pig area. I was surprised how crowded it was, especially considering the weather forecast. Bailey loves to walk around in the chicken area, though. The fences are low, and there are woodchips on the ground. Which of course equals hours of fun…

Of course, nothing could beat the excitement of ANOTHER CHILD’S STROLLER!

The weather was really muggy when we got there. On the way home, it started raining really hard and quickly turned into a storm with flood warnings and tornado warnings. Gotta love St. Louis weather :eye roll:

Sleepy Crabby

Filed Under Complaining, Thirteen Months | 3 Comments

I am so tired. Jonathon has been working late, so I’ve been single-mom-ing it all week. The house is a wreck, my Avon orders haven’t been delivered, and I can’t decide whether I’d rather crawl in bed or read a book and eat some cookie dough ice cream first. Oh and lots of laundry to be done, and my office to organize again. Because I have been alone with Bailey, so anytime I need to get anything done, she is in here with me.

But here is my little girl, dancing and twirling. No matter what, she makes me smile.

She loves to climb

Filed Under Into Everything, Thirteen Months | 3 Comments

This kid, she really loves to climb. Especially in and out of her rocking chair. If we aren’t watching (or if she thinks we aren’t) she will stand up in it and face backwards, holding on to the top of the back. She rocks as hard as she can. One day, I am sure she will flip the chair over and then she will believe me that it’s not a good idea to rock standing up.

She always looks so startled when she gets busted…

First Ponytail

Filed Under Fashion, Firsts, Thirteen Months | 12 Comments

I was so excited to put a ponytail in Bailey’s hair for the first time today! Okay, so I tried like a month ago and it looked so ridiculous that I took it out right away. But her hair on the top of her head has been growing so fast, and so I did this before church and it stayed in all morning! Her “bangs” and top hair are getting long enough that it looks shaggy if I don’t at least pull it back with a clip- so I am excited to have another “style” for her besides the “pull over to one side and stick in a clip” look!

This was before church and she wanted nothing to do with sitting still for a picture (of course) so that’s why most of them are of her back or Jonathon trying to hang on to her.

Um so I am kind of a sucker for styling little girls hair. And also apparently taking way too many pictures afterwards ;)

Yucky Bagel

Filed Under Food, Thirteen Months | 5 Comments

This nastiness that Bailey is eating? A cheese onion bagel with spicy mustard. Really, her tastes never cease to amuse/amaze me. I had all kinds of healthy stuff on her tray but my mom was eating this (as the bottom layer to her sandwich, yuck) and Bailey decided she needed it. Also, Bailey has caught on to saying “mmmmmm” while eating.

But it’s funny things like this, that I will want to have a memory of when she is bigger.

First Stride Rite shoes

Filed Under Clothes, Complaining, Shopping, Thirteen Months | 11 Comments

I decided it was time to get B her first pair of “good” shoes. Her white sandals from Tarjay kept falling off and they were starting to rub a blister on the back of her foot :( So we headed off to L@urie’s Sh0es this morning. The lady working was a total beeotch. We got the shoes, and they are cute, but I am so not sure about the fit at all. She put Bailey in a size and a half bigger than what she had been wearing, and an extra wide. They are gappy around the ankle and one fell off when I took her out of her carseat. Also I think the reason she told me she needed an extra wide is because they were out of the regular wides. Grrr so once we got home I spent time on the phone with their main office telling my tale of woe and we are going back to their main location tomorrow so they can check the fit and personally apologize to me. It would be really nice if that apology included a coupon.

I won’t get into all the details but basically while we were there the woman did not look at Bailey or speak to her and was very rushed and kind of rough with her. At a kids specialty shoe store. Great, huh? Then about a minute after I told her that I wanted a shoe she could wear all summer, she said something like, “And some people are really weird and want their kid to wear the same shoes all summer!” Thanks for making me feel like an idiot. Bad first impression, and they didn’t sign me up for their customer club thing so that was also part of my reason for calling, to get added to that.

The exciting thing? My grandma came with us and surprised me by paying for the shoes! All $42 of them… for a pair of toddler sandals… but aren’t they cute?

My cute little Bug

I haven’t posted any pictures of B in a few days and I thought it was time for some more cuteness :) The aqua dress is from Grammy and Grampa.  She was modeling before church on Sunday.

The pictures in the blue striped dress were taken on Memorial Day. She was opening a belated birthday gift from a friend of my mom’s. She was fascinated by the bag and tissue paper, but then when she found out it was a dress inside the bag, she lost interest. Unless it’s a toy or shoes, forget it. That girl knows what she wants!

If you click on the individual pictures it will enlarge them. I was just being lazy uploading ;)
