Baby Shower for Sarah and Claire
Filed Under Pregnant Friends, Showers | 1 Comment
I brought my camera and I completely forgot to take pictures. I didn’t even get my picture taken with Sarah. But aside from that, it was a really nice shower. They showed a video of Baby Claire and it was good to see her. You can already tell that she has filled out since she was born. Sarah sat in an armchair and had lots of help opening gifts and stuff (recovering from c-section) but I was glad she could be there. She just came home from the hospital last night. Sarah got more baby clothes than I have ever seen anyone get at a shower. People really spoiled her and I hope the shower helped cheer her up a little. I know it must be so hard to be home without your baby.
I think I just wrote the most disjointed post ever. I have really been having trouble focusing today. I am going to go eat pizza.
Chinese Shower
Filed Under Food, Friends, Showers | 7 Comments
Today I had a “diaper shower” for my friend Mae and her little girl, Juna, who was recently adopted from China. The shower had a Chinese theme. We played traditional shower games but the food was all Chinese and the decorations were red and gold. And I hung a clothesline of baby clothes over our faux wood blinds, and one of the items on the clothesline was a dress from China. Kind of a fun twist to a typical baby shower
I wish I had gotten pictures of the food and more of the decorations- I know I have the decorations on video at least- but it’s just hard when you are the one throwing the shower!
Big thanks to Britney for her help, and to Katie for bringing the great food! And of course to my mom for helping me clean and get stuff ready and for watching Bailey while I ran errands yesterday! (Even though my mom doesn’t read this anyway… fairly computer illiterate–she claims she “doesn’t even know how to turn on a computer” but I know she does because we shopped on eBay the other day).
Bailey had to help us get the fortune cookies ready!
Juna helped her Mama open the gifts
This is the diaper cake I made

Fun Weekend

This weekend was very busy- Friday night I went out with Faith. Saturday was a baby shower and then dinner with my grandparents. Sunday was church, a diaper shower, and a dinner at The Melting Pot.
Would you like to play on your Baby Einstein mat, Bailey?
I went to a baby shower for my friend Kim in the afternoon. She is due (well, scheduled C-section because the baby is breech) on July 5th. The gender is a surprise- what a patient mommy! Anyway I made a diaper cake for her because Jonathon and I got one at one of our showers and I thought it was really cool. I had a lot of fun making it, so I’ll probably do it again sometime! Here is Kim with the cake. I’m not sure why she looks so brown- I guess issues with my flash or something.
Grammy and Grampa bought Bailey an Exersaucer last week. Saturday was the first day we really put her in it and let her try it. I know she’s still kind of little for it and she’s not reaching for toys yet. But we put her pickle pillow behind her to support her and she seemed to enjoy sitting there and looking at all the toys for a while. They got the one with the most stuff on it, so it should keep her busy! Thanks again, Mom and Dad

She was so worn out that once she fell asleep and got moved to her bed, she slept through the night until about 20 minutes before my alarm went off for church!
Sunday night we had our weekly date night. This week we went to The Melting Pot, which is one of our favorite restaurants. We had a great time, and Bailey got to go play at Grammy’s house. Everyone was happy about those plans
Jonathon’s Baby Shower

The other day at work, Jonathon’s boss and another woman threw a baby shower for him. I knew about it ahead of time, but it was a complete surprise for him! Everyone at his work just loves him and really made it a nice time for him. We were overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness of his coworkers. We were given a carseat (the next step up), quite a few things from our registries, of course a ton of clothes, and some gift cards. Thank you so much to everyone there!
They managed to get a picture of Jonathon as he entered the room- the shower was actually held in the technology office (not his office) and he thought he was coming down to discuss something with his boss.
Picture of the office before the shower started- they did a cute job decorating and making it look less like a boring technology office!
One of the departments made us a really cute diaper cake- I have seen these before but it was fun actually getting one
I think I am going to do this for the next baby shower I go to.
Jonathon with Bev and Kathy, the two ladies who planned the shower for him (one is his boss, the other works in the business office and is also coincidentally the sister of our hairdresser).
Baby Shower 3/10

Here are some pictures (finally!) from my baby shower last Saturday. It was at my friend Jen’s house, given by her, another friend named Jen, and Laura. They did a great job putting everything together. It was so cute and the atmosphere was very fun and relaxed. I think there were about 14-15 people there, so a good turnout. I appreciate all the work everyone did with planning, and Jonathon and I are so thankful for all the gifts! We got lots of clothes, a bathtub, and some other big items including our Pack n Play.
The cake- all the decorations were cute pale green and lavender, with pregnant ladies
Our bathtub, and lots of supplies and Arbonne stuff from Silvana
The Pack n Play was a gift from my mom- and will probably be used a lot when she babysits Bailey!
Baby Shower Tomorrow

Did I mention I have a baby shower tomorrow? It’s at my friend Jen’s house, given by a few of my girlfriends. I can’t wait
Every day I get more and more crazy excited for Bailey to be here. I am literally counting the days.

I finally got some pictures uploaded from my baby shower last weekend. I was going to include more than this, but Blogger was being really slow with pictures, so this is it for now!
My Baby Shower

Wow! The shower they had for me today was nothing short of amazing. Everything was very well done, I had lots of friends (and some family) there, and people were very generous and thoughtful. Jonathon and I are so appreciative to everyone for all the nice gifts. Thank you doesn’t even begin to say it all.
It’s going to take me a few days to post pictures from the shower, because I need to go through them and do my Snapfish stuff and organize them first- but my goal is to share a bunch of the pictures from the shower in this blog.
Today I showed Jonathon everything when I came home, and we tried to get pictures of all the gifts before I started going nuts with the nursery and organizing everything and scattering it everywhere.
Here is the majority of the gifts- including the Diaper Dekor diaper pail, bouncy seat, portable booster seat/highchair, bottles, toys, wipes, changing pad and cover, and decorations.
My friend Colleen made this super cute rocking chair for Bailey’s room. I absolutely love it- and it’s going to look perfect in there. If you can’t see the detail on the chair cushion, it’s butterflies!
Here are some of the big gifts that we didn’t want to lug up the stairs! My mom and grandma got us the car seat and the stroller (thanks again!) and we also got an extra car seat base for Jonathon’s car, the baby gate, and an umbrella stroller.
Bailey also was given lots of clothes today. She is going to be a very well-dressed little girl. She even got some hairbows and shoes!
Shower Invitations
Filed Under Showers | 2 Comments
My first baby shower is on March 3rd. The invitations were sent out last week- okay, normally shower invitations really aren’t that big of a deal, but I thought these were super cute. My friends Cara and Faith are having the shower for me. Instead of receiving a regular envelope in the mail, a big manila envelope came. Here’s what was inside:
The pictures don’t really do it justice- also I had already opened the bottle before I took the picture and it just wasn’t the same after that. The actual invitation itself was rolled up inside and tied with a ribbon. It had the date of the shower/name of the restaurant/baby’s name/where we are registered just like a normal invitation, but I thought this was a fun way to send it out. Then there was a note at the bottom saying to bring the baby bottle to the shower for me! And they aren’t just random bottles, they are the ones we’re registered for.
Diaper Shower
Filed Under Church, Friends, Pregnancy, Showers | 4 Comments
Today was our diaper shower at church. Each time a couple has their first baby, our Sunday School class throws them a diaper shower. Everyone brings food and a package of diapers for the new baby. So it’s not a huge deal, but something fun to do and it also makes it feel a little closer.
It was supposed to be for us and for my friend Sarah but they had their baby on Thursday! Andrew Isaac, 8 lbs 6 oz, 210 inches long, and very cute! Congrats to the Johnsons! We usually have one diaper shower per “quarter” for whoever is having their first baby- so ours was scheduled this early so that they could have it before their due
date. It was moved up from two weeks ago when we had a snowstorm, and her baby came early, so that didn’t work out after all. Jonathon and I dropped their half of the diapers off afterwards and Sarah was crashed in a recliner with the baby.
My friend Faith came and hung out with me during the shower, and we just sat around and ate and visited with everyone. I wish I had taken a few more pictures- it seems like all I get is shots of people sitting around and I like “action pictures” better. This was also our first adventure with the video camera, so it was exciting to get to use it. Sorry to anyone who got videotaped while eating. But everyone had a good time, I ate way too much, and we really got stocked up on diapers! There are even a few people who said they would bring them next week- so tons and tons of diapers. Thank you to everyone who came
My friend Kim and her hubby- they are expecting their first baby on July 14th, so exactly 3 months behind us… only they are brave and they aren’t finding out the gender!
With Jen and Faith
I had to take a picture of the collection when we got home! I don’t think we’ll have to buy diapers for a while
I’ll take a rain check on that!

Diaper shower today was cancelled. We got up and went to church this morning, but there were not a whole lot of people there. LOL, “not a whole lot” at our church is still several hundred. They said that they wanted to wait two weeks so that there would be a better turnout. It is kind of ice-stormish here again. Ameren is really having a rough time this year. So now I can look forward to the diaper shower on the last Sunday of the month… it’s also for my friend Sarah, so hopefully her baby stays in until then!
The woman who was put in my room in the nursery to help was really nice. She was a vet, so I asked her about our cat’s gimpy leg. She made me feel much better about it and agreed that it was probably something not “correctable” but that we could get her pain medication for arthritis or whatever. I’m not buying prescription pain pills for my cat for the next ten years (she’s only six now).
We are currently watching the new season of 24. It seems a little weird so far- which is why I’m also on the computer at the same time. I’m having a hard time getting into it.
Pictures from Week 26

I just realized I haven’t posted any pictures in a while. I think pictures always make blogs more entertaining, so I thought I would include some for my thousands of readers to enjoy. Ha. I mean for all six of you.
By the way- both of these events were on the same day and I literally left one and went to the other. Just so you aren’t thinking that I wear this shirt to everything! I do like this shirt, though.
At my friend Sarah’s baby shower- she is 36 weeks, I think, and I am 26. I have decided that my pregnancy look is basically just “round and lumpy.” I have been told it is obvious I am carry a girl because she is spread out all over me. Thanks guys.
I tried to get a cute picture of my belly at the wedding on Saturday night (of course pregnant lady wants the picture taken next to the cake)… for some reason it looks like I am resting my belly right on the table, but I’m really about five feet in front of it. Not so flattering, but had to get a 26 week belly picture in somehow.
And last but not least, my studly hubby with the groom- a friend of his from college.
