One More Christmas Card
Filed Under Christmas, Random | 2 Comments
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

So good luck with raising a child who’s not a total brat
Filed Under Are you kidding me?, Random | 2 Comments
I witnessed this scene in the grocery store last night:
Little girl (about six years old, walks up to cashier): Yeah, I’m here to get a sticker.
Cashier: Can you say please?
Little girl: Rolls eyes and ignores cashier
Little girl’s dad: (speaking to cashier) “Yeah, good luck with that.”
Um, did I just hear him correctly? His daughter was being rude and not using her manners, and instead of correcting her, he told the CASHIER good luck with that? Even at Bailey’s age, I would have told her something like, “This lady is not going to give you a sticker until you say please. We use manners when we ask for something.”
And we wonder why some kids are so bratty.
Merry Christmas, only 75 days early or so

Yes, 101.1 (used to be The River) is playing Christmas music already. Tonight I got into my car to hear “said the little lamb to the shepherd boy…” WHAT??? If you are in St. Louis please turn to that station and tell me I’m not just hearing things.

If you want to read some really funny things said by a two year old, check out Kelli’s most recent post. I laughed out loud. Thanks, kel, for letting me laugh at Elle’s expense
If you want to watch a news clip from Show Me St. Louis where several of my friends are interviewed, and I make a very unattractive appearance late in the video (wearing pink shirt, no fat girl comments please) then check this out.
If you don’t know about our camera…

Jan asked, so I thought I’d bring the rest of you up to date as well on what is going on with our camera. Because, you know, it’s as exciting as like world peace or something. LOL
Our camera is about three years old. We have had continuous problems with it, like blurry pics, flash not working, delays, wanting to erase the card, etc. Thank goodness it’s the one thing we bought a Best Buy service plan on. This is the third time we’ve had it in to get worked on. The guy said if they can’t fix it this time they will probably replace it. I am nervous that we won’t have it back in time for our trip even though we are supposed to.
Never Mind

I forgot what I was going to say.
EDITED TO SAY: Jonathon parents are complete pains sometimes. They are difficult houseguests as I know I have said before. His mom is one of those people who will follow you through the house and just keep talking. Into the bedroom, walk into the bathroom while you’re peeing, etc. So it finally came to be that they cannot stay at our house anymore. Jonathon directed them toward a couple cheap hotels near our house and it had made a huge difference. Our visits are almost pleasant now.

61 As a 1930s wife, I am |
Some of the things I probably lost points on:
Never backtalks to her husband
Always had a dinner ready when he comes home
Makes the home always be a pleasant place
I know there were a bunch of things that I just cringed when I had to check or not check them on this quiz- however at least I can say “keeps home looking up to date” because we are finally ordering the Delta faucets for the hall bathroom and that is going to be HIS project to install the new faucet sometime next week. The last straw was when ours started spraying funny. Ugly, I can almost handle. Gets my shirt and the wall wet when I wash my hands? Not so much.

For now, anyway. Bailey is back to her usual cheerful self. Thank goodness, because I was about at the end of my rope.
And I am looking forward to the weekend. We are going to a carnival, a birthday barbecue, and I am having dinner with a friend. So it should be fun and hopefully relaxing. Jonathon tends to freak out if he thinks we have too much planned.
Also I have mosquito bites all over my legs today. Which is odd because we weren’t outside last night. Maybe a delayed reaction from playing outside with the neighbors on Tuesday night.
My house is clean too except for my office. That darn office.

Penny Stocks
Filed Under Random | 2 Comments
Did you ever even know there was such a thing? Jonathon just was telling me that his uncle Derr0ld used to buy penny stocks. You seriously buy stock for pennies, for like lower companies with not much return I guess. He said his two uncles used to talk about it and spend time messing around with this. Am I the only person that didn’t even know this existed?
This is probably the kind of investing I would end up doing. I hate taking risks. Lol I play the penny and nickel slots when we go to the casino.
Houlihan’s Diva Nights

My friend Liz sent this to me and asked for bloggers to help promote this new event at Houlihan’s. It looks fun and I am hoping we can get a group of girls together to go out for a ladies night.
Houlihan’s Diva Nights are every Wednesday from now until June 11th. http://www.houlihans.com/diva.aspx They’re featuring $5 martinis named after the characters on the show and each martini comes with a free lip gloss. Houlihan’s is also sponsoring a SATC movie sweepstakes thru May 7 and will be giving away two trips for two to fly to NYC for the movie premiere.
I felt the earth move under my feet

Around 4-something this morning, Jonathon and I both woke up because of an earthquake! How crazy is that? At first I thought I was shaking, then I thought it must be a train (odd, there aren’t tracks right by our house) and finally he said it was probably “just an earthquake, go back to sleep.” The picture frames on our dresser had been rattling but that was really the only thing that I noticed moving. I kept telling him I was freaked out but he turned right over and went back to sleep. Honestly I am surprised he didn’t get up to check on a hard drive or something. ha. Then today I heard that it was a 5.2 somewhere near the border of Illinois and Indiana, on a fault line that hasn’t been active since like the 1960s. They said we could have aftershocks for up to 24 hours.
Edited to add: There was an aftershock at 10:14 this morning but I was in a store and didn’t even feel it.
Can you hear this?
Filed Under Random | 6 Comments
It’s one of those high-pitched mosquito noises that supposedly only kids/teens can hear. I am slightly disturbed because I can hear it too. Just wondering if anyone else could.
