It’s a girl!

We are having a little girl! I am so happy and excited
It will be fun to call the baby “her” instead of “it” or “the baby” all the time!
Everything on the ultrasound was fine, no concerns… she currently weights 9.5 oz which is actually a little bigger than I expected after what I’ve read online for this week, but the tech said that was right on track and they kept my due date the same.
We are just so thankful and we are absolutely thrilled! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
Last Green Day
Filed Under Gender | Leave a Comment
Woo hoo! I absolutely HATE this green layout for this blog! As of tomorrow sometime, it should be (barring any technical difficulties) either pink or blue!
Results are in for the baby gender poll. 78% of you (also counting emails etc) say that I am having a girl. Either that really means something, or you are just trying to appease me. But thanks for voting!
I can’t wait for tomorrow! Wow, I must be taking after Mae and going wild with these exclamation points!
Baby Gender Poll

We find out in two days whether our baby is pink or blue! I have gotten so excited for the big ultrasound within the past few days… if I don’t keep myself busy or force myself to think about something else, it’s going to make me crazy.
Originally I really wanted a girl, but thought it was a boy. Okay, so I still really want a girl. I can honestly say I have no feelings either way now about what it is. I have realized that I really will be happy with either gender (yeah, good thing I’m going to like my baby, huh?) and although I have always wanted a little girl, a little boy would be pretty cool too.
My thoughts on having a boy: Jonathon would be thrilled. Plus, the boy would be a big brother to our other kids. Also, boys and girls are pretty similar, in the beginning at least, except that girls are more fun to dress! I don’t know, they have pretty cute boy stuff out there too, though. See, I really go back and forth on this constantly. Then, I remembered the little boy, Henry, that I used to nanny for. I loved him, and he was a boy. It’s possible
Of course, I have to say this (not only because it’s true but also because I know someone will decide to scold me and bring it up if I don’t– the main thing I am hoping for Thursday is that the baby is healthy.
ANYWAY, here is my question for you: Do you think I am having a boy or a girl?
It could be based on what you know about me or my pregnancy already, what I’ve written here, or just a “feeling.” Please either post your vote here as a comment, or email me privately if you know me. I will post the results tomorrow, and on Thursday we will get to see whether you all were right or not!
Big Ultrasound

Got a phone call from the doctors office… they scheduled my “big” 19-week ultrasound for me. Apparently my doctor always does them during week 19.
So……. It will be the week before Thanksgiving! In about one month, we will know what we are having. How fun.
I was really hoping it would be before Thanksgiving. That way, we can share the news with Jonathon’s parents when we go to visit them. And also, that’s a week or two less that I have to wait. I am not the most patient person.
I want to know!

As of today, I officially really really want to know whether this baby is a boy or a girl.
I just talked to a friend of mine. She found out yesterday what she’s having, and it’s a boy. I am so excited for her! How fun- now she can actually do some shopping, pick a name, decorate the nursery… And it makes me all the more excited and curious to know what Baby Sam is.
Here’s the good thing: She thought she was having a boy. She has thought that all along. It restores my hope in people being able to predict what they are having.
I still feel like ours is a boy. Nothing really to convince me of that, except that I feel like it is. Oh, and my feet have been very cold.
What about all this green?

Obviously I have been playing around with my blog today. Yup, that’s a good use of time on my day off work. I was sick of the dark colors and needed something cheerier.
Didn’t want to use pink or blue because I thought that would either scream GIRL BABY or BOY BABY. I love pink and almost chose that anyway, but I thought that might jinx us against a girl. You know, just to annoy me and make me change the background again later.
One of these days, this blog WILL be pink or blue. Hopefully by the end of November. If I am calculating right, we will find out the gender around Thanksgiving.
And just so you know, I really have done some stuff on my day off work. I am on my fourth load of laundry… yeah, so I was a little behind! I have tried to straighten up our bedroom. I cleaned the kitchen and ran the dishwasher. I finally put sheets back on the bed in the guest room and made that bed. I still have to vacuum, clean out my office, and dust.
Here is my game: I make a list of chores. Then I watch an episode of Friends. Between each episode, I have to do the next chore on the list. (They are only like 10-15 minute chores each) and I get rewarded by MORE TV. Allowing me to be both lazy and productive in the same afternoon.
I like Jonathon to come home from work and think I have really done something great.
Oops… my Gender Predictor results

I just realized that I blah blah-ed about the stupid gender tests but never shared my results. My brain is just gone lately.
52% likely to have a boy.
What? Because I pick up my coffee mug by the handle? Isn’t that the normal way? So only weird coffee mug holders have girl babies?
Boy vs. Girl
Filed Under Gender, Pregnancy | 3 Comments
So everyone asks me whether I think it’s a boy or girl. I honestly have no idea. I am secretly pulling for a girl–I have always wanted a little girl–but I know I will be happy no matter what. And I have this little suspicion that it’s a boy. But that might be something inside of me trying to protect me from being disappointed when I find out.
But how could I be disappointed? It’s MY BABY!!! We’ll see. Jonathon really wants a boy, so no matter what it is at least one of us will be ecstatic!
Anyway, Liz asked about the wives tale for the heartrate, so I also looked up some other ones to include in here. Some are common and others, I hadn’t heard of before.
If you carry the baby high, it’s a girl. Low, it’s a boy.
If the hair on your legs grows faster during pregnancy, it’s a boy.
If your pillow is at the north end of your bed, it’s a boy. South end, it’s a girl.
If the dad-to-be gains weight along with you, it’s a boy.
Morning sickness early in pregnancy means it’s a girl.
Cravings for fruit indicate a girl; meat and cheese means it’s a boy.
Dramatic chest development during pregnancy means it’s a girl.
Baby’s heartrate is over 140 BPM, it’s a girl. Under that, it’s a boy.
This last one is the one I’m really counting on. Otherwise, all the ones I have read have been about evenly split between boy or girl. There are tons more that I haven’t listed on here because they are just too ridiculous. Like whether you pick up a coffee mug by the handle or the mug.
Here is a link if you are interested in taking the actual “test” for yourself. It will tell you your percentages for either boy or girl.
