Not having a camera, well it sucks
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Food, Grandparents, Outings, Uncategorized | 3 Comments
I am so used to photographing everything Bailey does. When she makes a new cute face, or does something funny, or gets a new outfit or new toy… last weekend I cut her hair in the back (about an inch off the bottom) and I didn’t have my camera. On Thursday, my parents watched her for the day. They took her to Build a Bear and she made a stuffed bunny. Now I am waiting to take a picture of her with her new bunny, whose name is Floppy. This is the best I can do at the moment.

I feel like I am letting these moments fly by, uncaptured. I want to remember every smile, laugh, hug, every moment. We were at my parents house last night for my mom’s birthday and I took a bunch of pictures with their camera so hopefully they will loan me the card soon so I can dump them on my computer. Here are some pictures from hanging out with my parents a few weeks ago. I didn’t even realize I had these because I saved them into the wrong folder and discovered them last night when I was uploading to Snapfish.
We took Bailey to a local kids museum and she loved it. We will probably get a membership this fall. She had a great time exploring and learning. They also offer toddler and preschool classes so we might sign up for some of those after we get our membership.

In this picture Grammy is showing Bailey how to fish. After the fish are caught (magnets on the end of strings) they can walk them upstream and drop them into a small pool, then watch them go back downstream through glass in the floor, all the way back to the fishing pond. It’s really cool!

All sweaty after playing outside

Eating her favorite food ever- fries!

Exploring another park with Grandpa
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Grandparents, Outings, Play | 2 Comments
These are from last week at the park with my dad. Our camera is currently being repaired or replaced, so I will have to entertain you with some older pictures in the meantime. Hope you like them anyway. LOL… if you’re local and you want to know what park this is, leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you. It’s one of our favorites, and it’s NOT the Fountain Park.
Bailey HATES swings. I keep trying them every so often, hoping that she will change her mind. She is a pretty brave kid with most things. But I don’t blame her with the anti-swing thing. I liked them as a kid and now it makes me queasy to even watch other people swinging.

Walking through the tunnel- one of her current favorite things to do at any park.

Around the House
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Hair, Play, Toys | 1 Comment
For the last few weeks it has been dreadfully hot, up until just this past weekend. We have stayed home a lot of days, instead of just finding something to do. Gas is expensive, it’s sooo sweaty outside, and I have just felt like hanging out at home. We have played in the pool/sprinkler a bit, but other than that we’ve just been in the house.
Bailey has gotten a few new toys, including some wooden puzzles from Jonathon’s parents, a new Elmo video and stuffed Elmo from Mommy, and some new books. I have also been making more of an effort to rotate her toys so that she doesn’t get tired of the same ones. Her absolute favorite thing is her Little People Zoo. She doesn’t really care about the zoo part, but she loves the animals. Her new thing is lining them up on the couch or the coffee table. I have also noticed that sometimes she will get only the birds out (there are like six different kinds of birds in the set). For some reason, she really likes birds. Maybe because my parents make a big deal out of looking at the birds at the feeders on their deck.
Here she is lining up her animals. Yes, I know my coffee table needs to be cleaned. Glass top tables are constantly gross, especially with kids around. Of course that’s what we bought, before having a kid!
Whining at Mommy… this happens more than it used to. But my reason for including this picture- you can see her “haircut” because her bangs are actually laying nicely in this shot. I can’t believe this was just a month ago and already they are down to her eyebrows again. I think her hair grows fast like mine!

Playing with her baby and her Fuzzy bear. She loves to carry them around and hug them and pat their backs.

This is about as messy as she gets when she eats… weird, I know. Only maybe three times that I can think of has she gotten messier than this or gotten food in her hair.

Let me out of here, Mom! I’m sick of being at home!

My Busy Day
Filed Under Doctor Stuff, Fifteen Months, Home Sweet Home, Movies, Toys | 3 Comments
Today was a busy day for me. The morning started off by Bailey climbing out of her highchair. Then the carpet guy came to reclean our downstairs carpet. You know, the cat pee carpet? Well apparently the pet odor treatment didn’t work because after a few days the smell was back. (And to think Jonathon wanted to spend money on stuff like cat trees and condos for this stupid cat). The guy who they sent out today did injections into the carpet padding and onto the floorboard. We are hoping this works. If not we get refunded and have to buy new carpet. A friend of mine mentioned today, she thought we had already gotten new carpet. Well that was abandoned last minute due to money being needed for other things. So cross your fingers that this carpet cleaning works!
Then my Avon order came and I couldn’t sort it downstairs because of the carpet cleaning, so I completely trashed my office trying to find room to do stuff… but at least I can deliver things tomorrow and get some money!! Bailey did a great job playing by herself in the living room and watching her Elmo video.
Tonight I had to go get my eyes examined at my old eye doctor. Apparently the crazy woman I saw last time at the cheapie place was right, and I really do have an astigmatism. So my contacts are now like $65 a box. I am just waiting to go back for my “recheck” of my new contacts and then once they give me the prescription I will go get it filled online.
After that I ran a few errands- stopped by the grocery store and stopped by Best Buy to get a new Elmo dvd for Muffie. She is absolutely in love with “Mo” right now. Then we had a late dinner and let Bailey go outside and play in her new Cozy Coupe for a little bit. She can get in and out on her own and then picks up her feet so you can push her around. I’ll have to get some pictures of her in there!
Little Pigtails
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Firsts, Hair | 4 Comments
Bailey wore pigtails for the first time on Sunday! When I was getting her ready for church I thought her hair might be long enough to try it. I should have planned it out more and had her buckled in her highchair or something, but Jonathon helped me hold her still on the changing table and I put in some piggies really fast. They are a little crooked because I didn’t have a comb, just a big round metal brush. (Like I said, it was a last minute idea). She was running around while I tried to take pictures but at least you can kind of see them.
Sarah and Claire
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Friends | 1 Comment
My good friend Sarah- in fact she was my BFF in high school and really one of the only girls I talk to from back then- has a little baby named Claire. I’ve blogged about them before. Claire was born about seven weeks early and is now doing fabulous!
Sarah and I were so close and then we got married within about two years of each other, and had little girls within a year of each other. I am so glad we are still friends after all this time. Other people have come and gone, and gone crazy, and basically just dropped off the face of the earth, but I know we will be friends for a long time.
On Thursday Sarah stopped by to visit with little Claire and I got a few pictures. Claire is three months in this picture. Isn’t she a doll? Check out Sarah’s blog to see more pics of her cute little miracle baby.

I got to snuggle with Claire a little bit while they were over. She mostly slept and sat and looked around. I miss that stage. My kid was everywhere. She mainly wanted to poke Claire’s eyes out. Fun times. It will be a little easier when Claire is bigger and the playing field is leveled a bit between the two of them. A year apart is huge now, but when they are more like two and three years old, it won’t be as much of a difference. Bailey also thought it was fun to play with Sarah’s keys, and to sit in Claire’s infant carseat.
Hope you had a good weekend. I am going to go relax for a little bit and then get to bed. I have to get up in the morning and finish entering my Avon order. It’s due on Monday mornings and I usually get a few last minute calls.
Happy Friday!

15 Months Old
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Milestones, Talking | 7 Comments
Bailey was actually 15 months old more like three weeks ago… but we got her pictures last week and I wanted to share.
She went to the doctor last week for a belated checkup. Everything was great. She is still in about the 30th percentile for height and weight, and I think 85th for head! She was 22 lbs 8 oz and 30 inches tall.
We told the doctor that she was still just getting a bedtime bottle, but since then we have been able to cut that one out. I had originally wanted to keep that bottle for a while longer (I didn’t want to force her to grow up too fast!) but then I realized after discussing it with the ped that it would be easier to get rid of it now, rather than later when she could put up more of a fight and remember it longer. I think Bailey eats well most days, but we decided to continue with Poly-Vi-Sol, only now without iron. Her iron test came out good- I think it was like 10.5 and she said anything above 9 was normal, 10-11 was average. Whatever that means. She had to get her finger stuck for that one and she didn’t even cry. My brave little toaster. She also had her chicken pox vaccine, and two other boosters of things she had before. Those made her cry, but she got over it pretty fast when Grammy got out the fruit snacks!
We also talked about developmental things. She is walking backwards, and climbing, and saying more than 5 words (which was the goal for her, I guess). She can also go up stairs upright while holding on to someone/something. The doctor said she should be able to point to at least one body part when we asked, and she was surprised when I told her that Bailey knows her head, hair, ears, eyes, mouth, tongue, teeth, fingers, belly button, feet, and toes! She said that cognitively and socially, she is well ahead of what they expect at 15 months and that her 18 month appointment she will probably be meeting some of the two year old milestones. That made for a very proud mama
Here are her most recent new words:
apple
more
ah duh (all done)
no no no no no
nay nay (horse)
geeeeeeeesh (geese, at Grant’s Farm)
cheesh (cheese, said for the first time during 15 month photo shoot!)
rah rah rah (rock rock rock, for dollies or when we’re in the rocking chair)
mm-vah (movie)
deedle deedle deedle ??
That’s all I can think of now. I need to keep a list going while we are playing because her vocabulary just seems like it’s exploding lately. It’s so much fun! Lots of her words, you wouldn’t understand if you weren’t with her all the time or didn’t have a translator, but she definitely has specific words now and uses them in the right context.
Sprinkle Dinkle
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Play, Toys | 5 Comments
I think I mentioned that a while back, Jonathon bought a Dora sprinkler for Bailey. While very cute, it’s just not a functional kid sprinkler. I could tell that when I saw it, but he was so proud of his purchase. It’s inflatable and fills with water, and then water sprays out of all the holes. But I decided that we needed to get some more use out of it, so last night after dinner we got the sprinkler out to play in the yard.
Here’s Bailey checking out her Dora sprinkler.
We noticed that the water wasn’t coming up very high out of the sprinkler as it had in the past. Upon further inspection, Jonathon found a split on one of the seams. Of course it is from stupid Target and we will have quite the run around trying to return it, just like I wrote about here. That is so frustrating. I’m going to have to start searching for that receipt.
We ended up getting out the regular sprinkler for Bailey, and she was just as happy with that. Proof that kids don’t need cute sprinklers that don’t end up working. I have lots of pictures from last night but there were just so many that I felt like really captured her personality and her silliness, so here you go!
This is what she does when we tell her to smile…

Snacktime (which seems like about every half hour all day long!)

Our neighbor Will came over and confessed that he and his wife had been watching Bailey play out their window for a while. He is such a nice guy and Bailey just loves him! Plus, he helps us out with all kinds of house/yard/car stuff and has taught Jonathon a lot.

Botanical Gardens Trip
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Outings, Teething, Weight | 2 Comments
We went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens on Wednesday morning with Amy and Kaitlynn. You can read her blog post about it here. It wasn’t so hot, but it was really muggy. I should have pulled my hair back. That’s all I kept thinking. Bailey was a little crabby because of her bottom right molar coming in. It looks so painful, just poking about halfway through her gums. The whole tooth isn’t even through, just like two of the points on it. I don’t envy her at all with this teething business.
Anyway. Aside from the crabbiness, Bailey seemed to have a good time. She played on some of the sculptures like last time, and she even posed for a picture and I managed to get a good one!

Bailey also wandered around a lot and put her snacks down on the ground to go play. Then, she would walk back over and pick up her snack out of the dirt and try to eat it again. She also got really sweaty and sticky. But here are a few shots of her playing and sharing snacks with Kaitlynn.
The last thing we did there was put the girls in an empty fountain to play. That sounds bad, but it worked out really well. There is a new area and they hadn’t filled the fountain yet. Bailey and Kaitlynn were both kind of wandering off and just being generally in weird moods. So we put them inside this fountain and they ran around and played in there for a bit. It was nice not to have to chase them. Bailey seemed to enjoy being in there, too.
A day at the Botanical Gardens can really wear you out!

Sometimes I think treadmills are a good idea, but if I could just motivate myself to go walk places like BG or the zoo I would probably enjoy it a lot more, and so would Bailey. By the way, I lost 3.8 pounds this week! Finally making progress.
Floor Pooper
Filed Under Diapers/Potty, Fifteen Months, Firsts | 5 Comments
Just like it sounds. Today, I told Bailey we were going to go in her room and change her diaper. She walked in her room with me and she took off her diaper. I turned around to the changing table, to get a cloth diaper ready so I didn’t have to hold her squirming body down on the changing table any longer than necessary… and of course right as I turned back to pick her up, she was squatting on the floor, pooping. She left a little doody right in the middle of the floor. Then she stood up and walked over to her toy box to play. Nice.
Believe it or not, this is the first time B has EVER pooped or peed on the floor. She goes diaper-less quite a bit and it finally happened. Quite intentionally, too. I’m not sure what to think. But it was definitely gross.

Still having issues with Wordpress posting my pictures- story for another day- but anyway here are the cute ones of B after her bath the other night. She is trying to stop crying in this first one
And apparently it’s a lot of fun to read when you’re naked! Who would have known?

Some new communications skills
Filed Under Fifteen Months, Talking | 4 Comments
Bailey is fifteen months old now. Her vocabulary is growing slowly but surely. If she says something consistently and means the same thing with it, I count it as a word. Even if the pronunciation is a little bit off
She has recently added:
Um-vvv (movie)
Eye
Muh (mouth)
Guh (grampa or grammy)
Puh Puh (please, this started because we were saying “PUH PUH” trying to show her how to make the P sound)
Dih (This)
Obviously she leaves the end off of most words, and always has. I am guessing that will come with time. She seems to have it all in her head and understands whatever we say to her, she just can’t or won’t make it come out of her mouth. I always read blogs/talk to friends whose kids the same age have been saying full words for months now, and I worry that she’s behind. Then I remember she walked at ten months and I try to remind myself that she can’t do everything. She has probably been focused on physical development. I am just looking forward to her being able to tell me what she wants.
Here are a few other fun things she has started doing lately:
She can smile/show her teeth on command- I will have to get a picture because the face she makes is so funny.
Blowing kisses is now with an open hand instead of a flinging fist
During a funny moment we taught her “You tooted… What does a toot say?” And she makes a farting/raspberry noise with her mouth! I know that’s just charming to teach a little girl… but hey, it’s good for a few laughs.
