Pimp My Truck

Filed Under Dreams, Friends, My Childhood | 5 Comments

Jonathon and I watched a hilarious show on CMT the other night… I forget the name of it but it was like a cross between Pimp My Ride and Extreme Home Makeover. It was about guys getting their semi trucks redone. Some of these people had entire families living in there, and kitchens, and stuff like that. They spend thousands of dollars on these truck accessories that I have never even heard of.

I have only ever known one person who drove a truck. Well, I didn’t really know him. When I was in third grade, I had a friend named Shannon. Her house apparently smelled really bad (like not just a little but like why wasn’t the health dept called). I was aware of it a little bit as a kid but I guess I didn’t know how bad it was. She lived with her mom and her sister in one room in the basement of her grandparents house. They kept their dirty laundry in the bathtub, so I doubt there was much bathing going on. I remember they had a dog named Rex. It was a big scary German Shephard. I don’t remember if I had a weird incident with that dog, but I know that to this day I am terrified of German Shephards (and other big scary dogs in general).

Also I have had a recurring dream recently about the grandpa and the wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom. Which is odd, because I don’t think I’ve ever been up there, and the dream isn’t anything nasty, so get your mind OUT OF THE GUTTER!

I also remember making snow cones once in Shannon’s Snoopy snow cone machine. I remember trying to eat mine, and thinking that it tasted like smoke and dirt. I have always hated cigarette smoke smell, except for when I was in high school and college and I thought smoking was cool and fun. Now I can’t stand it.

I remember being in the bathtub one evening after I got home from Shannon’s house. My mom came in and had “a talk” with me about how I couldn’t go play over there anymore. It was too dirty and stinky. Apparently she had to wash everything I wore over there and couldn’t get rid of the smell. It was that bad. I can almost remember the stench if I think back to it.

Also, one time Shannon’s dad came up in his big truck to surprise her at recess. He walked over to the playground and I noticed that he was missing a lot of teeth. So to make a long story short- that’s my only encounter EVER with a trucker, other than the ones I see at fast food restaurants along the highway. And we DON’T stop at the ones that are just “rest areas” for fear of getting snatched.

See, this is what happens when I post too late at night. I get very rambly and tell you even more things than usual that you care nothing about.

27 Weeks- Third Trimester!

According to Babycenter:

How your baby’s growing: Your baby is really starting to fill up your uterus. This week he weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn’t bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. Wonder what he’s thinking?

Your body is gearing up for the final lap, so you may start noticing some new symptoms. Along with an aching back, for example, you may find that your leg muscles cramp up now and then. They’re carrying extra weight, after all, and your uterus is putting extra demands on your circulation. (As your uterus expands, it puts pressure on the blood vessels that return blood from your legs to your heart and on the nerves leading from your trunk to your legs.) Unfortunately, the cramps are likely to get worse as your pregnancy progresses. Leg cramps are more common at night but can also happen during the day. Flexing your foot (by pointing your toes forward and then flexing them back toward your shins) stretches the calf and should give you some relief. Walking for a few minutes or massaging your calf sometimes helps, too.

I haven’t felt the baby have hiccups yet. I know everyone talks about it, but if it’s happened, I don’t know about it. She seems to just kick and change positions a lot. Also, one of her body parts is a little to the left of my belly button- it must be an elbow or foot or something, because she pushes hard in that one spot from time to time. Sometimes I push back at her and she stops.

I get leg cramps sometimes at night- a feeling like a charlie horse is going to start, but then if I move fast enough it doesn’t happen. A few times, I haven’t caught it in time and have woken up to my leg being curled up in charlie horse pain. It goes away pretty fast, but it’s annoying. I know it’s not because of lack of fluid intake, because I get up to pee at least 5 times a night!

It’s so hard to imagine that I’m in the third trimester now- well according to some stuff anyway. Other things say it doesn’t start until week 28, but I’ll take what I can get. I can’t wait to meet Bailey, but I know she’s not done growing in there, yet. Every day I think this becomes more real to me, and I get more excited about having a baby and not just being pregnant. It’s fun that so many of my friends are having babies right now, too… I think I spent most of my awake time feeling the baby kick, playing with my belly, thinking about her, and shopping for her or her room or her stuff!

Last night, I dreamed that she was a few months old and we were getting her all dressed up for church. It was really disappointing when I woke up out of that dream.

First Tooth Dream

Filed Under Dreams, Pregnancy, Sleep | 1 Comment

I have heard that it is somewhat common for pregnant women to dream about losing teeth. Well, weird dreams in general are very common. I’ve already had a few quite strange ones involving guys from the past, food, and magnetic objects. Okay wait- those were NOT all in the same dream together!

Anyway the tooth thing is supposed to be normal, I guess. I have read that it symbolizes fear of losing control over something. Sure enough, last night I lost my first dream tooth.

We were at the zoo for my birthday. I remember specifically that my college roommate Sarah was there. I got in a fight with my mom about my teeth. (What? Me fighting with my mom?) Next thing I knew, one of my big back teeth had fallen out and was floating around in my mouth in a bunch of blood.

I frantically called my dentist, who was suddenly a woman instead of a man. She told me to wrap the tooth in a wet paper towel and come in right away. Her office was on the bottom level of some sort of shopping mall. After examining me, she informed me that she could not sew the tooth back into place until the spot had healed.

So for the remainder of my dream, I wandered around with a tooth in a wet paper towel, worrying that it would not be able to be sewn back in if I waited too long.

The dream was soooo realistic. I could taste the blood, and I could feel the spot in my mouth where the tooth was missing. I looked in the mirror and I could see it. I still remember specifically which tooth it was.

Anyone else with weird tooth dreams during pregnancy??
