Little Bits From Today

This morning we got up and went to the Tuesday morning childcare program at my church. My grandma and I had a class, and Bailey went to the nursery. The kids in the nursery were all different ages (just for today) but it never seems to phase Bailey. I watched her as an older kid tried to take her book, and she pushed her away and said, “No no no!” I’m glad she sticks up for herself. Also, she doesn’t cry when I drop her off, at least 90% of the time. I think it’s because she has always gone to the nursery or some type of morning childcare at least once a week. Also, we leave her with my mom and a few other people from time to time.
I thought she looked so grown up this morning so I took a few pictures of her before we left. I can’t believe my big girl will be in the Toddlers class this fall!

Tonight after Jonathan got home from work, he was working on fixing some of our outdoor lighting and I was working on dinner. Don’t worry, it was just spaghetti and garlic bread. You should know by now that I don’t do anything too complicated. Anyway, I had the oven mitt out to get the bread, and Bailey found it and ran off with it. I just managed to find the camera and get a quick picture before she lost interest.
Then later this evening, I was working on cleaning my office. The endless project that never gets all the way finished. Although, someday it will, and I will show pictures! Bailey was wandering in and out while I was cleaning, and she found a Sigma Kappa hat from when I was in college. She had fun modeling it and ended up wearing it for quite a while. She announced “hat” and pointed to it every time she saw one of us. Just in case we weren’t sure.

The Fountain Park
Filed Under Clothes, Fourteen Months, Outings, Play | 7 Comments
This past week, my mom and I took Bailey to our favorite park to play. She gets so excited to climb on the equipment now. It seems like not too long ago that she refused to climb on anything at all! She absolutely hates swings, though. If we sit her in one she looks a little nervous. If someone pushes it, she gets an absolutely terrified look on her face and starts shaking. It’s so sad
I don’t really like swings either, in fact it kind of makes me sick to watch kids swinging, but I liked them as a kid! She didn’t like her baby swing either, but a few times last fall she went in a swing at the park and seemed to enjoy it. I hope she grows out of the terrified phase and that it’s not making her feel motion sick or anything.
Her favorite thing to do at this park (or any park for that matter) is to go up and down the steps, over and over and over and over and over… it gives Mommy’s back and arms quite a workout!

This park also has a great fountain area. You can turn it on with a timer and it just sprays out of one pole. It’s in a nice sunny spot and we planned ahead and brought Bailey’s swimsuit so she could get really wet. Last time we went, she was in a hot pink diaper and looked really classy… so we thought we should be more prepared for playing in the water.

I had to include this last one because I just love the back of this suit. It’s from Janie and Jack, and it was a gift- a lot more than I would have spent ($38-ish) but I have to remind myself that she might as well wear it everywhere or she will just outgrow it anyway.

First Stride Rite shoes

I decided it was time to get B her first pair of “good” shoes. Her white sandals from Tarjay kept falling off and they were starting to rub a blister on the back of her foot
So we headed off to L@urie’s Sh0es this morning. The lady working was a total beeotch. We got the shoes, and they are cute, but I am so not sure about the fit at all. She put Bailey in a size and a half bigger than what she had been wearing, and an extra wide. They are gappy around the ankle and one fell off when I took her out of her carseat. Also I think the reason she told me she needed an extra wide is because they were out of the regular wides. Grrr so once we got home I spent time on the phone with their main office telling my tale of woe and we are going back to their main location tomorrow so they can check the fit and personally apologize to me. It would be really nice if that apology included a coupon.
I won’t get into all the details but basically while we were there the woman did not look at Bailey or speak to her and was very rushed and kind of rough with her. At a kids specialty shoe store. Great, huh? Then about a minute after I told her that I wanted a shoe she could wear all summer, she said something like, “And some people are really weird and want their kid to wear the same shoes all summer!” Thanks for making me feel like an idiot. Bad first impression, and they didn’t sign me up for their customer club thing so that was also part of my reason for calling, to get added to that.
The exciting thing? My grandma came with us and surprised me by paying for the shoes! All $42 of them… for a pair of toddler sandals… but aren’t they cute?

I haven’t posted any pictures of B in a few days and I thought it was time for some more cuteness
The aqua dress is from Grammy and Grampa. She was modeling before church on Sunday.
The pictures in the blue striped dress were taken on Memorial Day. She was opening a belated birthday gift from a friend of my mom’s. She was fascinated by the bag and tissue paper, but then when she found out it was a dress inside the bag, she lost interest. Unless it’s a toy or shoes, forget it. That girl knows what she wants!
If you click on the individual pictures it will enlarge them. I was just being lazy uploading

Doesn’t she just rock this Cardinals cheerleader outfit? It makes tonight’s loss not quite so bad… right?
Dahlings, I know I am just too beautiful. You mustn’t bother me.
Bailey’s dress
Filed Under Clothes, Gifts, Ten Months | 1 Comment
I realized that the post with pictures of this dress disappeared somehow when i was changing stuff in my blog. Um, I should say when Jonathon was changing stuff. I have no idea what I am doing or how to do it. He is my computer guy
Anyway, this is a dress that Bailey’s aunt and uncle gave her a few weeks ago. I appreciate the thought, but seriously- a short sleeve summer-ish Valentine’s dress for winter in Missouri? And did it really have to have Raggedy Ann on it? So that is why we took pictures- to send to them with their thank you note- and now the dress will return to her closet!
“Okay, Mom, enough with the camera stuff!”

Hanging out in our pj’s

Snuggle Puppy is one of her favorite books. Of course, it is even better when read upside down.
I love these white pajamas on her. Of course, you have to pretend her face isn’t covered in drool and snot. Hopefully we will have less drooly and snotty pictures now that she is on an antibiotic!
I love this girl. Look at these faces. Look how snuggly she is in her jammies. She just makes my heart melt.
Riding around in a box that Daddy was pulling- these pictures are actually from a few weeks ago. At first she wasn’t too sure about it but she ended up having fun. When I was little, my parents used to pull me around in a diaper box with a string tied on it, so we decided to try it out with Bailey… only we don’t have diaper boxes because we use cloth diapers.
Wordless Wednesday- Trying on a hat

Bailey started waving the other day! I think the day she DEFINITELY waved was on December 31st. It started out as a Hitler type salute but now is obviously a wave and her arm is less stiff now
I tried to take some pictures but they don’t do it justice!
And these pictures are from the first time Bailey wore overalls. She got these for Christmas. They are 12 months but they are already tight on her… which is weird because they are Carter’s and she usually wears 6-9 in that brand. I was bummed because they’re really cute!
In honor of her first snow, and other things
Filed Under Clothes, Eight Months, Pregnant Friends, Toys | 5 Comments
Bailey wore this dress to church on Sunday and then again later this week to our nursing group, in honor of her first snow. She hadn’t worn in yet, so I thought this was a great time to bust it out. The snowflakes on it are embroidered with silver thread and I just love it. You know how you just fall in love with some of their little outfits? This is one of them.
My pregnant friend Sarah- she is right at 15 or 16 weeks in this picture. Just starting to get that little baby bump and I think she looks beautiful! She is my BFF from high school (we were seriously inseparable for a while) so I was thrilled to find out she was pregnant. I know she is still a good friend and nothing will ever be like high school again (thank God, right?) but I hope we can become closer again.
Bailey in a Christmas shirt that I got for her last year at an after Christmas sale and almost forgot about! She is really more concerned with chewing on the chapstick I got from my friend Jen.
Playing with her toy pig that she got for Christmas from Alison (the little girl I watch sometimes on Fridays). It vibrates and shakes and plays music, and she thinks it’s pretty funn
New Jammies

There is just something about babies in footie pajamas… although I love dressing Bailey up in cute clothes and accessories, she is the sweetest in just a pair of pajamas. She’s just so simple, and herself, and I love it. My mom got her these Christmas pajamas a little while back and I couldn’t wait for her to be able to wear them!

Has anyone made their own? I want to make some for Bailey- like ribbon on the alligator pinch clip type thing. How easy/hard is it? I want to start off with stuff like this:
And when she gets a little bigger I want to do some like this:
Four Month Checkup
Filed Under Clothes, Daddy, Doctor Stuff, Four Months | 7 Comments
Bailey had her four month checkup today. She was 14 pounds and 23 inches long. She is meeting/exceeding all of her developmental milestones and the doctor doesn’t have any concerns. Also her heart and lungs still look fine- What great news! We have been cleared to start solid foods whenever we want to, but we are going to hold off on rice cereal for at least a few more weeks. Then she is supposed to do that for two to three weeks before introducing any Stage 1 foods. I’m sure that will be an adventure!
(This was a few hours after her FOUR shots- she is always such a happy baby!)
She has also gotten very grabby. Today when the doctor leaned over, Bailey pulled the pen right out of her pocket- twice! Also, she likes to try to hold her own bottle now at bedtime. Sometimes she does fairly well, and other times she just pulls it in and out of her mouth and plays with it.
Jonathon has been really busy at work. I haven’t seen him much lately. I know he misses Bailey a lot because he can’t wait to hold her and play with her when he gets home, and I feel bad if she’s already in bed.
Showing off her cute new bloomers. They were a gift from my friend Cara.
10 Weeks
Filed Under Clothes, Two Months, Week by Week | 6 Comments
I meant to do her ten week post yesterday and the time just slipped away from me. I feel like that’s how her whole life has been so far. It’s just flying by. She is growing so fast. Now she smiles a lot and once in a while we even get a random laugh. She can hold her head up with no problem- no more bobblehead
Her favorite things right now are her butterfly mobile above her crib, her band people on her bouncy seat, food, and her daddy’s silly faces.
This is Bailey when she was less than 24 hours old:
Notice how the sleeper is just huge on her. It is hanging several inches off her feet, and her legs kept getting caught in the body section of it. The photographer had to pull it tighter around her for her first pictures so she didn’t look lost inside it!
Now here is Bailey at 10 weeks, in the same sleeper. Not much wiggle room left! My girl is growing like crazy, and she seems so happy and healthy.
After I took this last picture I spent a while trying to get a picture of her smiling… and finally had some success…

And they call this 0-3 months?
Filed Under Clothes, Two Months | 5 Comments
I know my baby isn’t abnormally small… in fact her weight is now in the 80th percentile and height is like 40th percentile I think. Yet most of her 0-3 month clothes are still huge on her. In the beginning all she would wear was Gerber onesies and sleepers because they ran the smallest. She has more than enough 0-3 month clothes, so I’m glad she can fit into them longer than expected. It seems like most of my friends babies were out of this size by now. But on the other hand, her 3-6 month stuff is even cuter! And more dresses!
Anyway, this is the outfit that inspired this post. A gown given to us at a baby shower, size 0-3 months. I just now tried putting her in it again because it was way too big before. Still has plenty of room. Anyone else think baby sizes are funky?
