“I Love Your Blog” Award
Filed Under Blogging | 7 Comments
Thank you to Beth and to Dawn for this award. You both rock, and you are so sweet to think of me. I love your blogs, too. They are part of my daily reading.
Now, I get to share the love by distributing the award to others. But first the rules are:
1. The winner can put the logo on his/her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate up to 7 other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of the people you’ve nominated
Here are the people I am nominating. I love their blogs.
1. Baby Makes Three- my friend Sarah’s blog about her life and her little miracle baby Claire. Never a shortage of cute baby pictures, and I can relate to her in-law stories.
2. Will There Be Cake? She recently “moved” blogs and this is her new one. She’s just getting started there, but I love her writing and it’s worth checking out!
3. My Charming Kids- I’m sure MckMama doesn’t even know I exist, but I am amazed by her. She has three kids under three and is pregnant with the fourth; a little boy. He has a heart condition, and she doesn’t know what the future holds for him. But she trusts God completely for the health and life of her son, and she is an inspiration.
4. Adventures in Adamland- Beth and I have been reading each other’s blogs for a while now. Her son, Adam is close in age to Bailey. It is so fun to watch them grow and to see how similar and also how different they are!
5. Chasing Groundhogs- Also a good friend of mine IRL. She is in the process of moving to Alaska with her new (married this spring) husband. Her writing is honest and sarcastic and fun to read. She might not update for a few days right now because she is, literally, traveling across Alaska as I type this.
6. “>The Laughlins- Kasey is the wife of one of Jonathon’s old roommates. She is a teacher and I like hearing about her job and I always love seeing pictures of her decorating ideas. They are TTCing and could use your thoughts and prayers.
Seriously, go check out these blogs. Good reading material. I always love finding new stuff to add to my reader. You know, because then I can spend even more time on the Internet…
Word Scramble
Filed Under Blogging, Thoughts | 1 Comment
Do you ever read the spam blocking word verification letters for blog commenting and make words out of them? I mean not intentionally but just as you read them? I do. I just commented on a friend’s blog and it was something like SXCREU and I thought to myself, “Screw. Heh.” Sometimes they make me laugh, like if it says something like SKWIDGIT or FUBLERU. Yes, that’s what goes on in my head.

Blog Makeover
Filed Under Blogging, Contests | 15 Comments
Doesn’t it rock? My makeover was done by See My Designs By Shauna and I am so excited to have a pretty blog now! If you want a new look for your blog (or even just a new header or background) check out her site. She was great to work with, and her prices are really reasonable. I was lucky enough to have won the makeover contest at Berrie Sweet Picks, so I got it for free… but I totally would have paid for it.
Shauna did exactly what I was imagining, only she came up with it all on her own and then showed me her ideas. And she didn’t yell at me or get mad when I asked lots of stupid questions.
Meeting bloggers
Filed Under Blogging | 1 Comment
In th past week I have met two local bloggers. Last Saturday, Tubeless came by to pick up some Hannah Montana blankets that she had ordered from Avon, and I got to meet her cutie pie daughter, Julia. We definitely need to get Bailey and Julia together for a playdate sometime soon!
Last night, I took B to a Parents as Teachers event. During the song time I realized, “I think I recognize those kids!” I asked the mom if she was a blogger (I’m sure I looked like a big dork but I just had to know who they were. Mutha, I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT FEELING!) It was Sarahlynn from Yeah, but Houdini Didn’t Have These Hips.
I really get a kick out of meeting people whose blogs I have been reading for a long time or who I have read or commented on at some point. It’s nice to match a real person with a blog title.

Blogrolling With My Homies
Filed Under Blogging | 16 Comments
My goal for today/tonight is to get my blogroll updated… well and you all know my real goal in life is to get a more interesting template going on here… but that’s beside the point. My inspiration to do this was when Jan started blogging and I realized how many blogs I read that aren’t even on my list! I am going to be adding a lot and deleting a little from my blogroll. If you aren’t on there and you’re a regular reader, leave a comment so I can add you to my reading! If you would like to be removed, please let me know. You know, cuz maybe you think my blog sucks and you just don’t want to be associated with it. ![]()
Guest Posting From Mutha Mae

Well, now I know what it feels like to get a celebrity endorsement. Or something like that. My good friend Mutha Mae has been trying my Avon products and (without my asking, begging, or pleading) wrote a post for me about what she has tried. She’s a much better writer than I am anyway, so I hope you enjoy my first guest post! And if you haven’t visited her site before, go check it out.
Hi, I’m Mae from MuthaMae.com. Some of you read my site, so you know I do this video show for moms. I also do vlog entries. That means I have to get on camera. And that means I need to look good on camera. Ok, as good as I get! Makeup is important to me. Makeup has always been important to me. I’m a girlie kinda gal!
I didn’t grow up with money. We were on the lower end of the income scale. So when I did grow up and get a little bit of extra cash, I thought I had to spend it on fancy cosmetics. My thinking was that price= quality. Surely a 35 dollar foundation performed better and looked better than a 7 dollar foundation!
When my friend Tara told me she was going to sell Avon, I wanted to support her new business, but was worried. Avon? Could I actually get decent makeup that cost less than a meal at Mcdonalds?
I was hesitant, but I decided to try it anyway. I started with the mascara. Avon’s Super Full Mascara. I was shocked when I put it on and my eyelashes instantly curled upward. My puny little eyelashes? Curled. Upward. Wow. That’s never happened before. I’ve been using Avon’s mascara now for over a month and haven’t had a single problem with flaking or irritation. Wish I could say the same thing about my mental state.
Then I asked Tara for samples of the foundation. I was using a top of the line 45 dollar foundation that wasn’t giving much coverage and left my skin oily and broken out. I sampled the Perfect Wear extra lasting liquid foundation. Now, keep in mind I live in a humid climate and have oily skin. Wow, lucky me. Always keep those things in mind when reading makeup reviews in magazines. What is the climate like where the tester lives? What is their skin condition? Important things to know!
The foundation claims to be transfer proof for up to 12 hours. The foundation doesn’t lie. Again, I was shocked at the performance of this makeup. It goes on a bit dry, which is perfect for humid Missouri. Maybe not so good for dry climates, but for a humid climate, it stays dry all day long. My skin never gets oily. I don’t even need to touch up with powder. By the end of the day, the foundation still looks as if it was freshly applied to my skin.
The foundation does give a bit more coverage than the lighter wear foundations. At my age of 37, those sheer foundations are a waste. There are things I need to cover now and Avon’s Perfect Wear foundation covers them. It’s not thick. It doesn’t cake or get into my “fine lines” aka WRINKLES and the coverage is a bit luminous.
I’m now ready to branch out and try some eye shadow. Maybe some eye liner. Oh, and I’ve always used the Skin So Soft to ward off mosquitos. It’s now in a spray pump for easier application. I use it when I have to dash into the yard to move the sprinkler. Without Skin So Soft, I can get 3-4 bites in just a few minutes. With Skin So Soft, the mosquitos leave me alone and I don’t have nasty bug spray sticking to my skin when I go back inside to play with the babies. And I don’t smell like a forest!
Help support a stay at home mom’s business AND treat yourself to some quality products from Avon and Tara’s Avon business! And then come watch how awesome I look on Word To Your Mutha The Show and Mae’s Vlog Entries on MuthaMae.com

I have no idea why my pictures look so big in Google Reader. If you click to my actual blog, they should be normal size. Not sure what’s going on there.
Making some changes
Filed Under Blogging, Me | 2 Comments
To the look of my blog and also to me. I have got to find a better theme for this blog. Also I thought I was pretty smooth adding some pictures down the sidebar but they’re all funky. I need to get them all resized to the same size and then have Jonathon put line breaks in between them. Stupid HTML… or should I say Stupid Tara…
Tonight I am going to get my hair cut and highlighted. I am going to the girl who cuts my friend Nicole’s hair. Nicole always has good hair, so hopefully I can benefit from this. A while back, this girl gave away free haircuts to some bloggers and I was a winner, so I figured it was worth a try at least!
Here is my before picture. Don’t mind the horrible-ness of it. My hair really did look better this morning when I fixed it, but the problem is, it looks like crap after about an hour and I end up pulling it into a ponytail. It just gets flat and scraggly. Pray for a miracle.
Still a mess

My blog, that is. Under construction. I decided I don’t like Wordpress much so I might be trying B2Evolution. There are a lot of plugins for it and it looks like maybe more options. Of course this is all with Jonathon’s help. I just sit here and say “ooh I like that!” or “No, that sucks” and then he changes stuff. And about every five minutes I ask, “Can we make THAT pink?” Anyway it is almost ready to go and then I will shut down Wordpress and we will be in business. The website address won’t change or anything, just my design stuff.
I Am Excellent

Thank you to my friend Unkempt Mommy for this award!
I am passing this award along to my friend Nicole because she always makes me laugh with the funny stories about her boys, and to Soupy, because not only do I enjoy her blog, but her daughter is just so stinkin cute and I love the pictures!

I understand that the Superbowl was yesterday. I believe that most of you weren’t sitting in front of your computer with nothing else to do. However, it is disappointing when I log into my Google Reader and there is nothing new to read. Please start posting and remedy this.
Thanks!
