Dread
My in laws are on their way over to our house RIGHT NOW. I didn’t have to get to see them last night because I worked (more about that later). They stayed at my parents house last night so they are less than five minutes away. I am dreading the hugging and my MIL hovering over me and chattering for the next three days. I know I have lots of updates and pictures to post so hopefully I can steal some time away to get on the computer. Wish me luck.
Christmas Morning 2009
Filed Under Christmas, Gifts, Holidays, Two and a half years old | 3 Comments
On Christmas morning Bailey woke up around 6:30 and I heard her fake crying in her room. I went in and asked her what was wrong and she mumbled something about wanting to see her presents and Santa Claus and Mr. Potato Head. And then I realized we forgot to put out cookies and milk for Santa… oops… so we headed into the living room to see what was under the tree. We had just put a few gifts out for her since we were going to my mom’s to do the “big Christmas” later in the morning.
Under the tree she had a new sled, some books, and her stocking filled with presents. She was a little tired and overwhelmed at first…

but she woke up and got excited quickly!

The first thing she got out of her stocking was the Reeses Pieces candy cane. It was the only candy we put in there and she was pretty sure she needed to eat the whole thing right. that. minute.

She opened all her stocking presents in about two minutes- necklace and bracelet, tattoos, sunglasses, water colors, bath paints, chapstick, stickers…

Then Jonathon and I took turns showering and getting ready, and supervising her with her new paints.

By 8:30 a.m. we were all dressed and ready to head to Grammy’s house!

More later!
Christmas Eve
Filed Under Christmas, Church, Gifts, Holidays, Toys, Traditions, Two and a half years old | 1 Comment
We had a really nice Christmas Eve. Nothing exciting or huge but just nice to be together as a family. I had been working a lot of hours at my mall job and really missing time with Jonathon and Bailey. So I was glad just to spend this night together. We spent the afternoon getting some last minute Christmas things ready and wrapping done during her nap. Then we got dressed up and went to church together. I was able to get a few pictures of her at church (in the nursery) when I remembered to get my camera out.

Afterwards we didn’t get to have the Jesus Birthday Party because my parents decided to go to the late service instead. We came home and ate snacks and let Bailey open a few presents. We decided that as a tradition our kids will get a new ornament and pajamas on Christmas Eve, and that we will get a “family gift” like a game or something we can all do together.
This year she opened the Mr. Potato Head (one of her favorite gifts) that our neighbors brought over for her. She became almost irrationally obsessed with him, wanted to keep talking to him and hugging him and bring him to bed.

Her ornament was a princess castle, all pink and sparkly, with her name and the year on it. I thought that would be a good representation of this year and this Christmas, since she has been asking for “A castle with a princess and a princess and a princess and a princess and a king and a dragon and a dinosaur!” She has also recently gotten really interested in her Beauty and the Beast book, her new Tinkerbell room decor, and playing dress up in general. I have been looking forward to this stage!

She got a Disney Princess Memory game which we attempted to play. Really she just wanted to keep stacking and organizing the cards- but at least it was something we could do together! I know one of my friends got her daughter (who is a few months younger than Bailey) the Candyland game for Christmas. I’m wondering if they had any luck with that.

These are her new snowman jammies that she got to open and wear to bed. I don’t know that I am going to do any sort of matching jammies for the kids in the future, since we’ll have one boy and one girl. I might just try to get ones they will each like. I knew Bailey would love the snowmen and I was happy to avoid “character” pajamas this time. She has one pair of Dora jammies and they are enough for now!

The one regret I have about Christmas Eve is that I completely forgot to read the Christmas story to her! I was going to read it from her Jesus Storybook Bible and then we got all busy at bedtime and she was so wound up and kept running around her room and jumping from her bed to the beanbag chair. It completely slipped my mind. I am going to have to be more intentional about that next year because I don’t want this to just be a “gift holiday” and nothing else. We have been talking about the Christmas story and Jesus’ birthday etc but I was just disappointed.
Works for me Wednesday- Bubble Baths
Filed Under Play, Toys, Two and a half years old, Works For Me Wednesday | 2 Comments
Bailey LOVES to take bubble baths now. I use the Avon Kids Bubble Bath because it’s perfume/dye free. She only gets to do them for a special treat, like maybe once a week. But if I sit on the bathroom floor next to the tub, I can read magazines or whatever for at last a half hour while she plays. I just have to add warm water again about halfway through. She has a Dora castle that she loves, and it suctions to the side of the tub.

She also loves to make a “beard” on her face with the bubbles. And swim in the water, and pretend to lose toys under the bubbles and search for them. She’s really turning into a kid…

Jonathon’s Birthday- Oberweis
Filed Under Birthdays, Daddy, Food, Outings, Shopping, Two and a half years old | 1 Comment
Jonathon’s birthday was also in December. We celebrated at Oberweis. Pregnant ladies do not need to host lots of events at their house, in my opinion at least. The lady at Oberweis told Bailey she was the cutest little girl she’d ever seen. She gave her multiple balloons and sheets of stickers and free ice cream treats. I thought she looked pretty cute too of course!

Bailey liked her ice cream but said that she didn’t want any sprinkles next time. How was I supposed to know? She loves sprinkles on cookies!

Then afterward, we (I) convinced Jonathon to go shopping at Target all together. Bailey wanted to just sit and read in the cart. It never ceases to amaze me how much she enjoys reading.

Happy birthday to my Jonathon! I love you and I’m so glad to have you as my husband.
Happy Birthday Nana!

My grandma (Nana) turned 84 earlier this month. I have been so bad at updating this blog but wanted to at least share a few pictures. We had a nice afternoon/family party for her. We got a bunch of Subway sandwiches and chips and drinks, and I made cupcakes. We’re fancy like that. Of course she got some Avon stuff for her birthday- a perfume set and some jewelry. She also got some candy, a jewelry box, and some promotional products.

Just a cute one of Bailey with my mom (Grammy)

We didn’t think we could do all 84 candles on a cupcake ![]()

I am so thankful to have my grandparents living here in town with us. I know I complain sometimes about having to “help” with them… but it is nice to spend time with them and I am glad they have gotten to know Bailey. And that they will get to know Baby Boy. Whose middle name will be the same as Papa’s middle name.
I don’t know

I am seriously stressed right now. I have so much to do around the house. Get the baby’s room ready, clean, ship Amazon orders, clean my office, move all my Avon stuff into my new office downstairs, set up playroom in downstairs family room area, clean bedroom, clean bathroom and reorganize. I am freaking out a little bit. Tonight I was supposed to be relaxing and watching Cold Case which is only one of my FAVORITE shows when guess what? We get almost to the end and the tape stops. Yes we still use a VCR, we can’t get U-ver$e at our house because AT&T sucks. Apparently the show started late tonight and SOMEONE didn’t allow for that while taping. So I was extremely pissed and I still am. Good old pregnancy hormones, someone better get out of my way. I feel like hitting something. I’m glad I’m not a man or I would be punching the wall.
Oh but did you know that when you are in a bad mood and a cute little someone starts dancing in their raincoat while watching their reflection in the oven glass it almost makes it all better?

Wordless Wednesday- Pig Jammies

Bailey will be wearing footie pajamas until she’s 12. I love them.
Meeting Baby Beatrice
Filed Under Attitude, Friends, Playdates, Two and a half years old | 2 Comments
My good friend Emily had a baby girl in early November and today we went to visit them. Bailey is friends with Beatrice’s big sister, Ella. She was really excited to go see them today- after she finished having THIS fit:

I am not telling you where she learned this pouty face…

But then once we got to Ella’s house she was all smiles. On the way there, she kept saying “I want to see Babytrice” instead of Beatrice. It took her a while to figure that one out.

I loved holding Beatrice. She was so sweet and snuggly and soft. It made me get more excited for our baby to be here in a few months. And Emily looked like she was doing great with both of the girls. Seriously, she had even baked cookies.

The girls were happy to see each other, I think, and they really played well together. They held hands and pretended to go to the grocery store. So sweet!

And Baby Beatrice got some love and kisses from Bailey too. Some of which she liked-

And then she had enough!

Bailey ended up falling asleep just a few minutes before we got home. Thanks, Emily and Ella, for a fun day!

It’s rough being a model…

Some outtakes from our photo shoot the other morning. It didn’t go so well!

The lollipop bribe didn’t really make things any better either…

(I had a lot of people ask about this outfit when she wore it the other day. If you’re curious- it’s Lots of Dots from Gymboree 2008. And I think the “remake” is available at the outlets right now. This line has super super cute stuff. We have a few sets from it and I intend to track down more for next year!)
Little Kicky

This baby is really starting to wiggle and kick A LOT more lately. The past two weeks or so I have been feeling him- not just the flutters but definitely some pokes and nudges when I put my hand on my belly. Jonathon has felt him now too (that happened around 25 weeks) and the other night when I rested an ice cream bowl on my belly I saw it bounce up and down!
Tuesday Toot- I’ve Been Cheating On You
Filed Under Money, This Rocks, Tuesday Toot | Leave a Comment
I’ve been (once again) spending my online time elsewhere… this time it has been on amazon.com listing things to sell! I have made almost $300 in the past week or two and it is SO much easier than feebay! The only thing that stinks is I can’t sell Bailey’s used clothing. I have another site I use to do that anyway, but Amazon is just so easy. Seriously, you don’t have to take pictures or write a description or anything. And they direct deposit into your bank account so no messing with Paypal and all those fees either!
