Muffin and Muffins

Filed Under Food, Twenty-two Months | 1 Comment

My little Muffin ate a banana nut muffin today! The reason I care? My child has a huge aversion to any type of bread- sandwich bread, cheesy bread, bagels, soft pretzels, muffins, cake, etc. Today at the store they had mini banana muffins to sample and I left her try it. I told her if she didn’t like it, I would eat it. She ate the whole thing! It took about 15 minutes but maybe we are finally making some progress with this food thing.

Kaitlynn’s Birthday Party

Filed Under Birthdays, Friends, Parties, Twenty-two Months | 4 Comments

I swear I started this post earlier today. I was having trouble uploading pictures (thank you, WordPress, for never caring about my feelings) and so it saved and I was going to come back to it later. Now? It’s completely gone. So I am starting over and it’s probably going to be a lot less energetic and entertaining than the first version. But you get to see Bailey in her cute party outfit, so that’s a plus, right?

I started out by saying how Jonathon, Bailey and I went to her friend Kaitlynn’s second birthday party this past weekend. It was at her house, and they had sandwiches and drinks. The kids just played downstairs and the adults ate, until it was time for cake and ice cream. The party seemed to go pretty well except that I got stuck sitting next to Amy’s really loud MIL during the gift opening. I heard “KAAAAITLYYYYYYYYYYN” about ten thousand times within the span of twenty minutes. That woman is loud, for real. And I don’t feel bad saying that because Amy and I have already discussed it.

When we were downstairs playing, the older kids were playing Wii. Bailey thought she needed a piece of the action and kept getting in their way. At some point, someone must have put her on this stool (or maybe she climbed up… sounds like maybe I should start supervising my child) and she was using the Wiimote for a phone.

Then the kids decided they needed that Wiimote (does anyone else feel like they have a speech impediment when they say that word?) –Bailey was NOT pleased.

We went upstairs to get ready for cake and ice cream. Jonathon asked Bailey if she wanted to wear a party hat. I thought she would hate it because of the chin strap but she loved it! It looks like she’s pulling at it in this picture but she left it on the whole time and didn’t complain.

The party had an animals theme. The decorations were really cute. Bailey gets so excited about giraffes and zebras. The cake was from McArthur’s Bakery and it was really good! I’ve seen/eaten quite a few of their cakes and I have always been impressed. I love birthday cake. I even love the smell of matches being blown out- it’s like it automatically makes me think of birthday cake!

Happy birthday, Kaitlynn!

Kohl’s Saturday Sale

Filed Under Frugal | 2 Comments

I used to make a point of posting coupon codes and stuff on this site but I have kind of forgotten to do that lately. I want to get back in the habit. One place I shop fairly regularly is Kohl’s. They are having a sale this Saturday and I have two different codes for online shopping.

The first is for 15% off your entire order:
SAVEBIG15

The second is for orders over $100: 20% off your entire order plus free shipping. I’m sure that still doesn’t apply to Alaska, Sarah, but you could try…
SAVE20BMSM

Happy shopping! I spent my budget for last month and next month at Gymboree during the sale so I have to stop myself now.

Tuesday is Snooze-day

Filed Under Church, Cloth Diapering, Diapers/Potty, Twenty-two Months | Leave a Comment

I have been noticing a trend. Every Tuesday afternoon Bailey and I take a LONG nap. Not together, but at the same time. I work at church doing childcare on Tuesday mornings and she is in the “Big Girl 2′s Class” so we both have a busy morning. I am in the infant (six weeks to crawling) room with my friend Casey. I enjoy getting to spend the time with her every week. It gives us a good chance to talk while we hold the babies and play with them. We have been blessed with some really cute babies! This one little guy, well it’s good that he’s so cute because he seriously has stinky grown man gas. Constantly. But he is just so cute that we manage to put up with it ;-)

On the flip side: My daughter is most definitely not a baby anymore. She is funny and sneaky and loves to be mommy’s helper. She also likes to sit on the potty. She is successful maybe 1/2 the time but we don’t push it.

Another thing that she loves to do is line up her Little People animals. She likes them all to face her. She knows an astonishing amount of animal names now. Even things like lizard, seahorse, hippo… I can’t wait to take her to the zoo this summer. We talk about the zoo A LOT and talk about what animals we want to see. I love that she can have conversations with me now.

And just because I love her fluffy cloth diapers (this one is a Blueberry Minky), and because this one just happens to match her pajama shirt, I had to snap one more.

Little Muffy Muff,

I can’t believe you are almost two years old. I have already booked your birthday party! Yes, you are having a big party with all of your friends. I have been told that’s silly but I just want you to be happy. I know you will have so much fun. Especially when you find out that we get to sing and dance and do parachute time at your party!

You have grown up so much just within the last month. You continue to come up with new two and three word phrases. You are a good problem solver. You are now obsessed with letters and numbers. You want to learn letters and match them and make the sounds. I don’t think it makes much sense to you yet, but you love it all anyway. I hope you continue to have that love for letters and words. You are one of the most well-mannered toddlers I have seen. You insist on saying please and thank you for everything! You even thank me for things like putting your pajamas on. It makes my heart smile to think about it. You have such a sweet and kind and loving spirit. You are also so active and I like to say that you are part pogo stick. You bounce and jump and never stop. Even when you get in bed, some nights it takes an hour of you laying there before you fall asleep. But you never complain, you just lay in bed and play quietly.

It still drives me crazy that you are such a picky eater. Your favorite food is a Big Bird Bar (still) which you call a “Bee Barn” and ask for at least five fifty times a day. The only meat you will eat is chicken. In the form of nuggets. Although last week you surprised us and ate tacos one night. Crunchy tacos with ONLY meat and cheese. You also like yogurt, cheese, bananas, and any sort of baby food fruit. We tell you it’s applesauce.

You are still my entire world. I don’t know how I lived without you until you came into my life. I spend so much time thinking about you, praying for you, doing things that I think will make you happy. Including obsessing over Gymboree clothes for you! I just want you to have it all but somehow not have that attitude. I’m sure that will be a line I always struggle to stay on top of, without falling to one side or the other. Just know that I woul do anything for you.

Love, Mommy

Wordless Wednesday- Accessorizing

She chose her own style today.

I won a giveaway!

Filed Under Giveaways, Hair | 2 Comments

Thank you to Lauren for her giveaway. I won a shopping spree on her website. Her stuff is super cute, and I loved picking out more bows for Bailey. I am really picky about her bows and Lauren’s stuff is great quality. She also sells pillowcase dresses, custom made tutu’s, and all kind of cute girlyness.

I was so happy when I got that package in the mail. Here is a picture of it, minus one Valentine clip that was in Bailey’s hair when I took the picture.

Happy Timey-nine!

Filed Under Holidays, Twenty-One Months | 3 Comments

Some things I want to remember…

-Bailey says “Timey-nine” instead of Valentine.
-She loves Barney, Baby Bop, and “B.G”
-Her favorite food is a Big Bird Bar (Earth’s Best Organic Fruit Bars) but she slurs it together and calls it a “Bee Barn” now.
-She loves to remind people about their manners. She says “Please… Nice… Manners!”
Her favorite phrase is “Look at that” said in a really high pitched voice

And just for fun, some pictures from a Valentine party earlier this week:

Bailey gave out Dora and Diego valentines with lollipops this year. She loves lollipops only pronounces it like “le-poop!”

Second Child Syndrome

Filed Under Blogging, Second Pregnancy, Thoughts | 5 Comments

So recently, all these people I know are pregnant with their second (or third) child:

Kelli
Jenny
My friend Eileen (not a blogger)
Carrie
Amber
Tami (actually she just had her baby)
Beautifully Unique
Lauren
Kasey (it’s actually her first but since we are talking about all these pregnant people…)

That’s a lot of pregnant ladies. Am I jealous? Kind of. But not in a mean way. More like in an Oh my gosh, I think I want to be where they are now kind of way. Most of these people have kids right around Bailey’s age. A few of them, we started reading each others blogs during our pregnancies. They are ahead of me this time. I know it’s not a race. But I finally, finally feel like I want to catch up.

(NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT)

Transportation Museum

Filed Under Outings, Twenty-One Months | 2 Comments

We went to the local transportation museum last week with some friends. Honest review? Meh. I think it would have been really fun if we could play outside and explore, but there was still snow on the ground. We went to the Creation Station playtime. It was exactly that- playtime. Which is fine, I am not one of those moms who wants my kid in classes CLASSES CLASSES all the time. But- at $7.50 per person, I expect more than free play in a room with toys.

We were lucky- we got free admission because our friend Eileen had passes. Normally, it is $6 per person to get into the museum, then the Creation Station is an extra $1.50 per child. So it can be a pricey event. What we got out of it was fine for being free, but I don’t think that I would pay to do it. Unless I was really bored and desperate. We just live in a place with so many great options for kids, though. Despite the fact that I wasn’t thrilled with the whole thing, I really did have a good time visiting with my friends. When Bailey wasn’t whining about snacks. I got some cute pictures from the morning. She is becoming obsessed with accessories, hence the firefighter hat. She wouldn’t take it off.

She is such a junkie for accessories- she likes hats, glasses, jewelry, next thing i know she is going to be asking for Orient watches.

Not Me Monday, Number Whatever

Filed Under Not Me Monday | 3 Comments

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

But on to me… because it’s all about me…

Today, I did not have a huge fit when I went to a breakfast and found out they were serving stupid Bread Company bagels instead of donuts. Because my kid hates any type of bread, and had been so excited about a donut (which apparently does not count as bread). Really, do they know that they can’t randomly change things when dealing with kids? OH, and the drink choices were juice and coffee. Awesome, for toddlers, right?

I did not have to teach my child the rule “we only touch Bailey’s bottom or Mommy’s bottom. We can’t touch other ladies bottoms.”

I did not just order a potty seat from Amazon. My child is not nearly two years old. Time did not go by that fast.

I did not contemplate going outside and screaming at the man who has been jackhammering two streets over for approximately four thousand hours now.

On Saturday I did not go shopping alone for over three hours while Bailey and Jonathon napped. I am never that lucky!

I did not buy a pack of Valentine snack cakes for a party on Wednesday and they lose self control and open them last night. I do not have such a weakness for snack cakes. (I know, how sad is that?)

I did not just realize it has been like four or five months since my last hair cut. I never neglect myself for that long. I did not schedule my hair appointment during dinnertime this week, because I would never abandon my family for dinner so that I can go relax alone at the hair place!

What have you NOT done this past week?

Wagie Ride for Tuesday

Filed Under Difficult Stuff | 11 Comments

***A little while back, I started following this blog. They lost their beautiful daughter just this week.

On Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m., the Whitt Family is holding a celebration in Parker, Colorado. They’re having a wagon and bike parade to honor Tuesday with one of her favorite things to do – “wagie rides.”

We all can’t be there physically, but we can be there in spirit.

The goal is to create a virtual parade for Tuesday, to show her family and friends how her brief life touched so many. I know it did.

So here is a picture of us doing a wagie ride.

Animal ABC’s and other brain things

Filed Under Learning, Talking, Twenty-One Months | 2 Comments

On Tuesday, I got Bailey this Barney Animal ABC’s video from the library. On Wednesday, I caught her saying, “A B C D F G H I Six, six, six, A B six…” She can say bits and pieces of the rest of the alphabet too. She skips “E” every time, and she just likes to interject “Six” whenever possible.

She also counts, “One, two, three, six, six, six” or “Seven, eight, nine, six.” Apparently she doesn’t know what comes between three and seven because she always skips that part or just starts at seven. She can also count up to three objects (like if you ask her how many bears are on a page of her book) by pointing to them and counting.

She knows the letter B and can tell you what letter it is, or point to it in a group of letters. However, she will tell you that it is the “Barney letter” and not that it’s for Bailey. Most of these things, she has honestly learned from those stupid Barney videos that she loves. I mean, I kind of work on the stuff with her if it comes up while we are playing. But she just really picks up things after seeing them once or twice on video. We are trying to be really careful what she sees because of how fast she catches on and remembers!

She knows lots of different animals now- more uncommon ones like flamingo, koala, seal, zebra, dolphin, hippo, owl and she enjoys learning what sound they make. Her pig noise is pretty darn funny.

She makes up her own words. Like the other day, I was getting her undressed for her bath. I asked her what we were doing. I expected her to say something like “bath” or “off clothes” but she said “Naking!” I was like, what??? She said, “Naking! Naked Beelay!” So I guess she just verbed naked. At the park today, she picked up a stick and started scratching it against the landscaping rocks. She said, “Drawring. PREtend.” I love to see her figure out more ways to communicate as her language skills grow.

Oh and one more thing, she knows ALL her colors now. I have finally determined through a few different games and tricks that she really does know them. She can name or point to red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, white, and black.

If you are wondering where I am…

Filed Under Avon, Twenty-One Months, eBay | Leave a Comment

I am in eBay hell. Why did I decide to have two hundred listings at one time? Bad move on my part. So most of my free time is spent printing shipping labels lately.

Also I had an Avon meeting on Wednesday night for people who are Unit Leaders. They have some really good promotions going on right now for recruiting new Avon reps. If you (or someone you know) could use a few hundred dollars a month, talk to me. It is only $10 for your startup kit, and you are not required to keep an inventory. There aren’t even minimum order sizes that you have to turn in! So it is the perfect thing to do for extra money because you can work on it as much or as little as you want.

And I could never end a post without a picture or two. This is Bailey on her new jungle gym, a.k.a. our kitchen table. I don’t know why the picture is blurry… I am still figuring out my camera settings so we’ll just blame it on that.

Here she was tilting her bread and pretending it was a slide for the peas. They said, “Wheeeee!” as they went down the slide. I love to see her becoming more creative and doing more pretending. It was pretty amusing to watch but once I got the video camera out, she stopped, of course.
