Works For Me Wednesday- Toddler Haircuts

Filed Under Hair, Sixteen Months, Works For Me Wednesday | 8 Comments

I have now given Bailey her second haircut. The first time was just her bangs; this last time I did her bangs and about an inch off the back. People have been asking me how I got a one year old to hold still while I did her hair. So I am going to share with you the brilliant tip I was given by one of my Avon customers.

When you need your busy, squirmy child to hold still for something, wrap a small bandaid around each fingertip on their left hand. Then they will sit and pick those bandaids off one by one. By the time they are done, you’re finished with their haircut!

I haven’t gotten a good picture of her hair yet- I just got my camera back tonight- so I will work on getting a picture tomorrow. I think it turned out pretty good. I mean, it’s even and there aren’t any chunks missing. What else can you expect from a novice haircutter and a one year old?

And just because I’m excited to have my camera back, here are the first pictures we took tonight at home!

great idea! i’ll have to try that with jack henry, who’s starting to get a bit shaggy.

We just took Avie for her first professional cut. We were at the mall and the place was empty so we dashed in. We knew it would be a scream fest. It was. But her hair is so cute. The lady was able to do this perfect precision bob cut with oval bangs. I don’t know how she did it with a screamy baby, but it worked. Avie’s hair is just like Bailey’s. I can see from the top of her head, grows in the same pattern. That cut really works for that hair growth so you might want to consider it when Bailey gets bigger. Then again, she’s so big now. I cannot believe she’s a toddler already. Time is flying. Ready for another? HAH!!!

Oh and I cut Avie’s hair until recently. It just got too fine and all the mistakes showed. I still cut Junie’s because there’s barely any hair to cut. She’s still so bald. And Boo? Professional cut all the way. I have no clue how to cut curls.

Pretty darn good tip there. James now just sits there and lets me cut his hair, but he used to squirm and scream. With Natalie, it’s uncharted territory..but she keeps scratching the back of her neck because of the ringlets touching the skin. lol I’m scared that if I cut her hair the ringlets will go away. lol
Anyways.. Bailey looks so cute with her new haircut. Great job mama!

What a great tip! I may use it even just for everyday hair-dos ’cause my child won’t even hold still long enough for me to put a clip or a little ponytail in her hair. Uughh.
