Cinco de Mayo party

Filed Under Parties, Twelve Months | 7 Comments

I know today is actually Cinco de Mayo, but we partied on Saturday night. A friend of mine had a Tres de Mayo party at her house. We brought kids and food and had some drinks. I was kind of wishing I had left Bailey at my parents’ house, to be honest, because it would have been a lot more relaxing. I spent most of the time chasing Bailey and trying to entertain her. I got to see my friend Liz, who I haven’t seen in a few months I think. And my friend Silvana and her husband were there, without their kids. They have a new baby who I haven’t even met. We haven’t seen them in a while.

We weren’t sure how the weather would be, but we tried to make Bailey look festive and Mexican, lol. What do you think?

Here she is with her Aunt Jen-

She spent a lot of time that evening reading books in their living room. Well, alternating with her spastic running-around-and-eating everything-in-sight spells.

I really think next time, even if kids are welcome we might not bring Bailey when we go out. I want to just be an adult and not chase a toddler. I want to be able to sit and talk and have drinks and not worry about leaving when she starts fussing. I hate that I want to leave her at Grandma’s… but I just want to be Tara for a night and not Mommy. I hate even saying that :(

Aw, don’t beat yourself up over stuff like that. I think you and Jonathan did a great job socializing while still keeping an eye on the little muffin. Besides, I enjoyed seeing her!

My man and I always got away for a long weekend once a year without crumb snatchers. I think it’s a good thing (or does that make me sound like Martha Stewart lol).

We all need a break from being Mommy sometimes!!! I have definitely felt the same way after going over to a friend’s house for the evening. Plus, I get frustrated because DH feels like he can socialize and do whatever while I chase Scout around the whole night. Sheesh.

All mama’s feel this way sometimes, and I think that we too all feel guilty for it. But it’s true, being just me feels wonderful sometimes. Social situations tend to make this more apparent as well. Hope you get some “you” time soon:)

Girl. I totally hear you. TOTALLY. I get out often enough by myself, but it’s usually to go to the grocery store, or pick up prescriptions. I rarely am able to get out to a party and enjoy myself and ::GASP:: stay up past 10p!!
I too recently went to a Cinco de Mayo party where kiddos were invited. I chose to leave my 5 at home with my In-Laws. I had a B-L-A-S-T. I had a few drinks, talked, ate, didn’t worry about if the child that was crying was mine… AND I actually got to spend time looking at other peoples kiddos! That was kind of nice as well! It’s rare that I’m able to enjoy someone ELSES kids, typically I’m spending all of my time doting on my own 5…
Good for you for recognizing that you don’t HAVE to be Mommy all the time. It’s good for you to get those breaks… :)

I wanted nothing more then to stay home and be my kids mom but sometimes I think I would just like to be “me” for a change…. I miss me sometimes.

She looks so cute in her bow though!

I agree with the others…we all want to be us sometimes instead of mommy. I have NEVER left Victoria with anyone besides Daddy, and I am beginning to regret that because she doesn’t want to be away from either of us now. Have yourself a good time and don’t lose yourself in mommyhood. Too many mommas (including me!!) do that.

She looks ADORABLE in that outfit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
