Bailey just ate an ant.
She poked it with her finger and popped it right in her mouth. Yum.
One Year Checkup
Filed Under Pediatrician, Twelve Months | 2 Comments
Before I forget…
20 lbs, 2 oz (30%)
almost 29 inches (50%)
head 85% but I don’t remember the actual measurement
walking, starting to climb, waving, clapping, eating fine, she has five words, meeting milestones, everything looks good
We chose to wait on the chicken pox vax until 15 months, more about that later but I started thinking about it after reading this blog entry written by a mom I know.
Today she got MMR and Hep A
Declined lead test because she did not have any of the things on the checklist
She will not get her iron test until 15 months because she is still getting some formula now and dr wants to wait until she doesn’t get any formula at all to do that so it doesn’t affect the levels. Right now she gets about 6 oz a day because I was worried about her eating habits
Weight Loss
Filed Under Weight | 3 Comments
Continuing the struggle to lose the baby weight. I am really feeling better lately- my doctor started me on a new medication and it has helped a lot with my energy level. I thought about trying weight loss pills but I am scared about what they do. I have just heard too many horror stories. But now that I have more energy, I think I am going to go to the gym tomorrow morning! It’s been way too long since I’ve gone and I need to get back into a routine.
And I have lost two pounds in the last week. I know that’s not a ton but at least I am making some progress.
Bailey’s Birthday Party
Filed Under Bailey's Birthday, Family, Food, Friends, Gifts, Grandparents, Twelve Months | 3 Comments
I guess it is time that I post pictures from Bailey’s party. I really feel okay about it. We had a good turnout with lots of friends there. The food was decent (just stuff I put together like a fruit bowl, veggie tray, watergate salad, chips and dip, etc). Her cake turned out cute even though she wouldn’t eat it. There weren’t any disasters, just a clingy, teething baby.
Bailey with my mom and our neighbor Jeannette
Friends Amy and Kaitlynn
See the little flower thing she has in her hand? She’s obsessed with it and takes it everywhere with her. That and the wand for the bubbles that Kelli gave her.
Bailey loves balloons. She has started trying to say “balloon.” She points to them and says “Buv!”
Sharing her toys with AJ, my friend Jen‘s little boy
With my college roommate, Sarah
We stripped her down to her diaper just in case she decided to eat her cake…
But she didn’t! She wanted nothing to do with it and cried until I got her out of her high chair. ![]()
Here she’s signing that she wants out
She’s glad all that nonsense is over so she can sit by herself and play her xylophone!
Happy birthday, sweetheart. We’ll try the cake again someday. If you’re anything like your mama, you will love cake with buttercream icing!

Bailey has gotten like a million teeth in the past week. Last weekend was teething hell. Early this week, it ended and she has a whole mouthful of teeth to show for it. All the way across the top, bottom molars, and another bottom side one on its way!
Baby Shower for Sarah and Claire
Filed Under Pregnant Friends, Showers | 1 Comment
I brought my camera and I completely forgot to take pictures. I didn’t even get my picture taken with Sarah. But aside from that, it was a really nice shower. They showed a video of Baby Claire and it was good to see her. You can already tell that she has filled out since she was born. Sarah sat in an armchair and had lots of help opening gifts and stuff (recovering from c-section) but I was glad she could be there. She just came home from the hospital last night. Sarah got more baby clothes than I have ever seen anyone get at a shower. People really spoiled her and I hope the shower helped cheer her up a little. I know it must be so hard to be home without your baby.
I think I just wrote the most disjointed post ever. I have really been having trouble focusing today. I am going to go eat pizza.
Bailey’s Birthday Celebration with Avie and Juna
Filed Under Bailey's Birthday, Gifts, Playdates, Toys | 1 Comment
Today we went to Mae‘s house for a playdate. Bailey had a good time playing with Avalon and Juna… and she was just fascinated by Miss Boo. I think it was mutual, actually.
I delivered Mae’s Avon order and she gave Bailey her birthday present since they couldn’t make it to the party. Remember the really cute pink shoes with bells on them? She got them for Bailey in a bigger size! I love them so much and I had planned on cramming her squished toes into them until she turned thirteen, so she is very thankful to have some bigger ones.
Here is a shot where I actually managed to get all three of the babies. That’s Avalon on the left, crying
Juna is in the middle, and Bailey is on the right.
She also got a Disney Princess cell phone. Just what every toddler diva needs, right? She’s busy texting in this picture.
While I was downstairs doing laundry…

Bailey went in the bathroom and closed the door, and sat there in the dark until I came back upstairs. When I came up I heard this whining and thought it was coming from the bathroom. Sure enough, she was sitting there right in front of the door, just waiting to be let out.
Why is she so obsessed with closing doors right now? She always closes our closet and all the cabinets. Maybe because so many times when she starts to get into something we say “CLOSE IT!” She is such a curious little thing.
Botanical Gardens
Filed Under Outings, St. Louis, Twelve Months | 8 Comments
Today we took Bailey to the Missouri Botanical Garden. In case you didn’t know, Wednesday mornings are free for St. Louis City and County residents. My mom drove and we forgot to transfer the stroller to her car, but Bailey did a great job walking almost the whole time this morning. That kid never runs out of energy! They had a lot of new, kind of creepy sculptures that she played on and in with some other kids. She also sorted through the woodchips about a thousand times. We ran into some friends from our Kangaroo Kids nursing group. We hadn’t seen them in a month or two and it’s amazing how much they have grown just since then!
We ate lunch at the Sassafras restaurant in the main building. We also got to see a neat teak furniture exhibit, the Children’s Garden, the Climatron (which was a little warm today!) and lots of tulips.
Here was one of those sculptures- I think this one was a lion.
Peeking through the giant teeth of another sculpture… Now you know what I mean about them being weird, right?
Playing in the fountains- she loved it! We need to get a kiddie pool (big enough for me to get in too so I don’t melt in the sun) now that it’s warm out!
Then she started getting her shirt wet too so we decided just to go completely white trash and let her play in a diaper… but she loved it…
Avon Campaign 9
Filed Under Avon | Leave a Comment
My mom took Bailey this afternoon while I sorted and bagged my Avon orders and got my new brochures ready to pass out. I got a few fun things for myself (and my family) including more new flip flops, Mesmerize cologne and aftershave for my grandpa’s birthday, a Bible Songs cd for Bailey, and some new eyeshadow. Also I have a friend who has been looking for the best acne treatment and has decided to give Avon Solutions a shot. My big sellers this campaign were Mineral Makeup and jewelry.
It was so nice to not have Bailey’s “help” with sorting everything. I got it done in record time since I was alone!
Welcome, Claire Elizabeth
Filed Under Friends | 8 Comments
Welcome to this world, little princess. Baby Claire Elizabeth was born today at 3:58 pm. She is 2 lbs 12 oz and 16 inches long. She is breathing on her own and I got a message from her mommy tonight, who sounds very tired and happy
Thank you for all of you who have been praying for them.
Sarah, I am in love with her. Bailey can’t wait to meet her. She says they are going to be the best of friends. I told her they better stay out of trouble and their mommies already know all their tricks!
Houlihan’s Diva Nights
Filed Under Random | Leave a Comment
My friend Liz sent this to me and asked for bloggers to help promote this new event at Houlihan’s. It looks fun and I am hoping we can get a group of girls together to go out for a ladies night.
Houlihan’s Diva Nights are every Wednesday from now until June 11th. http://www.houlihans.com/diva.aspx They’re featuring $5 martinis named after the characters on the show and each martini comes with a free lip gloss. Houlihan’s is also sponsoring a SATC movie sweepstakes thru May 7 and will be giving away two trips for two to fly to NYC for the movie premiere.
Please say a prayer for my friend and her baby
Filed Under Prayers, Pregnant Friends | 2 Comments
My good friend Sarah who (whom?) I have written about before is 32 weeks pregnant and in the hospital with high blood pressure. I’m not sure how much info she wants to share with the blog world because she hasn’t posted about it yet. They have some concerns with the baby and with when the delivery should happen. Her original due date was June 10th but it looks like it will be quite a bit sooner now. She’s been there since Friday and they had an ultrasound with a specialist today.
Please say a prayer for her or think good thoughts for her or do whatever you do. And if you have a minute, stop by her blog and leave a comment and some well wishes for her and Baby Claire.
Bailey’s Party
I have to get in the right mood before I do the post about her party. That’s why so far, I have only mentioned the gifts. She was kind of a teething mess for her party and she refused to even try her cake. I felt bad for her and for myself. It wasn’t exactly what I imagined. But I will write about it and share pictures another day. It wasn’t all bad. I think she had fun for most of it and tolerated the rest of it. I had just pictured something different. That’s what happens when we get our expectations up. Poor kid had no idea it was even her birthday party. How was she supposed to know to cooperate?
Bailey’s gifts
Filed Under Bailey's Birthday, Gifts, Twelve Months | 2 Comments
She got some really fun stuff for her birthday. My parents gave us money to pick out a playhouse for her, to put in the backyard. They also gave us a cute picture frame and my dad got her a little girls Ping golf hat. I think this is the playhouse we are going to get. I was looking on Craigslist but couldn’t really find anything we wanted.

My grandparents contributed more money to her college savings account, and gave her this little guy from Kohls who she just loves every time we go in there.

![]()
Jonathon’s parents sent her two books. One of them is this Elmo music book that she is obsessed with right now.
![]()
My friend Faith got her this cute swimsuit from Target, and a matching coverup and towel. Hopefully we will get to the pool a lot more this summer.
![]()
She really likes this zoo that she got from her Aunt Jen.
![]()
Here is a Children’s Place dress she got from my other friend Jen, that I managed to find a picture of. Because I am way too lazy to actually get my camera out right now.
![]()
Some of her other favorite toys are a set of wooden alphabet blocks and a circus that you can take the animals in and out of. She likes to put the wooden blocks inside the circus tent. She got so many nice things. Lots of cute clothes and fun toys. We are going to wait and introduce the other toys maybe one every few days so she can enjoy the “newness” for a while.
