I think I got my comments fixed so that you don’t have to be logged into Wordpress to comment. Please leave a comment so I know if it’s working for everyone!

Also I know my blog looks horribly boring (for those of you who aren’t using Google Reader, anyway). This next week I hope to customize it a little bit. If anyone wants to give me a crash course in Wordpress, feel free to.

Bailey’s dress

Filed Under Clothes, Gifts, Ten Months | 1 Comment

I realized that the post with pictures of this dress disappeared somehow when i was changing stuff in my blog. Um, I should say when Jonathon was changing stuff. I have no idea what I am doing or how to do it. He is my computer guy :) Anyway, this is a dress that Bailey’s aunt and uncle gave her a few weeks ago. I appreciate the thought, but seriously- a short sleeve summer-ish Valentine’s dress for winter in Missouri? And did it really have to have Raggedy Ann on it? So that is why we took pictures- to send to them with their thank you note- and now the dress will return to her closet!

Forgot to post this sooner- Bailey’s third tooth showed up on Monday. Well, it might have actually broken through before then, but I noticed it on Monday. Here’s the weird thing: She has her two bottom middle teeth… so the next one should be top middle, right? Nope, it’s the one NEXT to the top middle, on the right. So my kid is going to look like a jack-o-lantern when it comes all the way in.

At least that explains the repeated biting during nursing and early morning wakings. Again. It is getting easier to predict when she’s cutting a tooth. As of sometime Sunday, she was back to herself so I figured it must be breaking through.

Something I said I would never wear

Filed Under Avon, Pregnancy, This Rocks | Leave a Comment

Crocs. In fact, I wrote an entire post making fun of them a year or two ago. My friend Mutha swore with me that we would never own or wear them. She was the first to go back on that promise. Then, when I was pregnant my feet were this swollen:

I went shopping with my mom one day and we traded shoes because mine were so uncomfortable. Hers were Crocs, and they felt like foamy little cushions. But after that, I still swore they were ugly and I wouldn’t own any.

Enter Avon. They make some great faux Crocs and they are only $9.99. Plus for some reason, I can’t so no to a good Avon deal :( So I ordered the black ones with rhinestones… because if I am wearing Crocs, at least they are going to be sparkly! I still can’t believe I own them. But they are so comfortable. I know some fakey Crocs aren’t as comfy, but these things are awesome. They have become my slippers of choice around the house. Um, and I’ve worn them out of the house a few times now. Don’t tell.

I also just ordered these sandals, which were also $9.99. Last summer I was bumming that I didn’t have a cute pair of flip flops to wear with black capris and stuff like that, so I am excited to get these!

Playdate last week (not so wordless Wedneday)

Filed Under Home Sweet Home, Play, Ten Months, Wordless Wednesday | Leave a Comment

I hosted a playdate at our house last week. It went better than I expected in a lot of ways. I am a horrible hostess, and I hate hostess-ing. I am just not good at being hospitable and helpful and letting people put their shoes on my couch. But I decided to suck it up and invite my moms group over here. There were six babies and some preschoolers. I don’t know if I have mentioned this before, but my living room is not exactly large.

Anyway, we survived. The babies (and moms) seemed to have fun. Nobody got hurt. Nobody got mad at me. For some reason, I am really worried about people being mad lately. And I have been stressed out about my blog. Learning Wordpress. Griping about our server. (Basically talking a lot about things I don’t understand). But enough of that. Here are some pictures from the playdate. And a promise that I will be back to my regular posting. I can’t believe how much I have missed blogging!

Bailey has a serious fascination with waterbottles! She has managed to take the lid off of one of them and spill it all over the floor. It may have just been an accident but I keep a close eye on her now!

Can you believe all these babies in one room? And it’s not a Gymboree class or anything; it’s my house!

Still a mess

My blog, that is. Under construction. I decided I don’t like Wordpress much so I might be trying B2Evolution. There are a lot of plugins for it and it looks like maybe more options. Of course this is all with Jonathon’s help. I just sit here and say “ooh I like that!” or “No, that sucks” and then he changes stuff. And about every five minutes I ask, “Can we make THAT pink?” Anyway it is almost ready to go and then I will shut down Wordpress and we will be in business. The website address won’t change or anything, just my design stuff.

Playdate at the mall play area

Filed Under Friends, Nine Months, Outings | 2 Comments

Our moms group went to the mall play area last week. Here is Bailey checking out one of the cars. I was surprised that she had such a good time. It was pretty crowded but she never seems to mind the big kids.

Bailey and Andrew- he is taking her on a date in this car… lol…

My friend Amy’s daughter, Kaitlynn, who is turning one this week!

Playing with the spinny things- she had to fight off an older boy to gain access to them! Go Bailey!

I cannot understand how my child sits comfortably like this. ALL the time. Her PAT lady commented on it and then we had her pediatrician check her hips and knees. She’s doing fine. It’s apparently just the way she likes sitting, and she can quickly turn or get on her knees (or one knee) from this position.

My friend Kim with her daughter Mackenzie, who is three months younger than Bailey

Bug and Mom- she’s not paying attention, I look so pale I could be dead. Wonderful pic of us, huh. But we don’t get our picture taken together very often because I am usually the one with the camera, so I try not to delete ALL of them!

We all had a nice time at the mall. We ate lunch at the food court- I had Subway- and then we shopped for a while. We hit the sales at Children’s Place and Gymboree but I didn’t end up getting anything. Bailey definitely doesn’t need anymore winter clothes, and I need to do a spring/summer clothes inventory before I do too much shopping. I know we got a lot of stuff on sale last year.

After the mall I went to my grandparents house to help them get their shower stool installed. It’s for my grandma, who we are afraid is going to fall in the shower :( I love having them here, but I hate watching them get older.

My dad with Bailey later that afternoon

Just thinking

Filed Under Being a Mom, Breastfeeding, Ten Months | Leave a Comment

After Bailey woke up from her nap we were laying in my bed together. We were side by side, facing each other. She was nursing, and her little legs were rubbing against my thighs as she wiggled. It made me think about her fitting inside my tummy. That seems like such an impossibility then… but back then, it seemed impossible to imagine her as a real baby. It’s just funny how our reality changes as life changes. And it’s almost impossible to remember how things were “before.” I know I was very happy and carefree before, but it’s strange to think that I could have been happy without her. She just seems such a part of my world- like a piece that completes me- and I don’t know what I did before. Then when she finished eating, we laid there and poked at each other and laughed and snuggled. Nothing could be better.

So I guess my ten month post sappiness just kicked in late. LOL

On another note, I would not mind getting some fitness equipment, seeing as I have not dragged my butt to the gym in like a month and this whole breastfeeding this just is NOT helping with weight loss like it’s supposed to. I am reminded of that when Bailey grabs my belly. Ick.

10 Months

Filed Under Milestones, Ten Months | 3 Comments

I can’t believe it, Muffie. You are ten months old. For some reason, this month didn’t make me as sad as when you turned nine months. Nine months just seemed so significant. Ten months, well, it’s been a crazy ride so far!

Saturday was your official “birthday” of being ten months. We spent the afternoon at Chuck e Cheese for AJ’s birthday party. There wasn’t much there you could do, but you seemed to have fun anyway. We tried to make you go on some of the rides but you weren’t interested. You tolerated them for a little bit and then held up your arms for us to pick you up.

You continue to be very busy. You are taking steps on your own now! About three to four steps is your average. You are so determined, and you love trying to walk. I have a feeling it won’t be long. You are also very wiggly during diaper changes, and you don’t like to sit still long enough to get dressed. It’s gotten difficult! You also have strong preferences when it comes to food (no pureed peas, squash, or peaches) and books (you LOVE the book I Love You Through and Through- if we try to read you something else before bed, you look for that one in the bin next to your rocking chair). You definitely have opinions.

Two weeks ago, you weighed 18 pounds and 1 ounce and you were 27 1/4 inches long. It was your belated nine month checkup. You are in about the 40-45 percentile for height and weight, and your head is in the 90th. I guess that’s why we have trouble pulling your shirts over your head :) Your doctor said you are doing great. You are meeting all your developmental milestones (and you’re ahead on a lot of them too!) and you are healthy and happy.

Yesterday, you definitely started saying “Da-Da” to Daddy! At first we weren’t sure if it was just coincidence… but it has been consistent. If we say, “Say Da-Da” you will just whisper it. But you also do it on your own, too. It’s so cute and makes your daddy so happy! Now we will have to work on saying Mama :)

You play your xylophone with the wrong end of the mallet. You can put your Peek a Blocks in the giraffe’s mouth now. You have figured out how to roll the balls down the track on your big toy in the living room. On Sunday you reached in the potty and splashed in the water. You like to empty trashcans and open cabinets. You love to turn on the tv and change the channels. I try to catch you and stop you. We want you to learn right from wrong, but also to be free to explore. It’s hard finding a balance of what to let go and what to correct you on.

You are my joy, and you make every day exciting. I can’t wait to see what this next month has in store!

Love, Mommy

(This picture was taken during one of our struggles to get you dressed)

Directbuy

Filed Under Frugal | 4 Comments

I just read somewhere that in home furnishings sales, stores get like a gross margin of 43.3% profit, on average. That is freaking ridiculous.

DirectBuy is the leading members-only showroom and design center that offers merchandise at manufacturer-direct prices. They charge a membership fee, but then you can buy the products at manufacturer prices. I should look into doing something like this before I sink any more money into decorating.

Bailey’s New Towel

Filed Under Avon, Professional Pictures | 1 Comment

Check out what I just got Bailey from Avon. She got the pink bunny one, and then we are going to go get pictures taken with it, in the little bathtub that they have at the studio :) It is even cuter than in the picture, and it was only $12.9– which is less than I have seen for a lot of other cute hoodie towels!

I also ordered her some of the bath paints because they are only 99 cents right now! So we’ll get those next week. I know she’s a little young for them but I thought they’d be something fun to put in her Easter basket. We can always put them away for when she’s a little bigger. I just can’t pass up a sale, especially when it’s stuff for her.

Tired

Filed Under Complaining, Weight | 4 Comments

Seriously, I am so tired all the time. I tried convincing Jonathon and my mom that I either have a thyroid problem or chronic fatigue. I cannot lose weight and I am exhausted even after sleeping eight hours at night. My mom told me to try going to the gym. *Sigh*

Clingit

Filed Under Random | Leave a Comment

Remember when I said that we know people who invented something and that Jonathon is fascinated by the idea of having an invention? Well, I found the website. The people who we know invented Clingit. They live about ten minutes from us but their house is about eight times the size of our house.

Honey, please make an invention.

Just a quick brag

This one’s about my husband. For Valentine’s Day, he gave me a new day planner. (I had actually been wanting one). When he gave it to me, he was like “What’s the date today?” I opened it to the 14th, and a piece of paper fell out. He had made four coupons for a DAY TO MYSELF where he will watch Bailey all day and I can sleep or read or leave the house all day and do whatever I want. He also said if I wanted a weekday he could take the day off work. He has like a million vacation days. I don’t think I would ask him to do that, but I am definitely going to take him up on this VERY SOON!

He gives me time to get stuff done and never minds watching Bailey. But I always feel like he is watching her so I can go get something done. I feel guilty just taking time away to relax. Like I am slacking and “sticking him” with the kid by himself. I shouldn’t feel that way; I know he loves here and it’s his responsibility too. The Mommy Guilt thing is just so hard sometimes. I feel the need to be there, all the time, making sure EVERYTHING gets done (my way).

Anyway, that was the best gift he could have given me. Well that and some hot lovin’ of course ;) Um… yeah.
