Baby’s Crib and Painted Walls
Filed Under Friends, Nursery | 4 Comments
We have finally finished painting the nursery…. well, with the exception of the baseboards on one half of the room, which need another coat of white. It was a long, annoying job, but I think we are happy with the results.
At first, we worried that the paint was too dark (it was much darker than we expected, but I think that’s what happens when the sample is about one inch by three inches, and then you put the paint all over a room). But once we moved the furniture back into the room it was better. Then when we put the bedding in the crib, it was even better. The color matches really well with the bedding, so I’m pleased with that.
That’s really the only thing we have done so far- the crib is ready. Everything is washed and ironed- it was all wadded up in the bag when we got it and really required a lot of work to get it decent looking- and we have the curtains but I still need to iron and hang them. Right now we have the comforter over the side of the crib, but I think we are going to move it and hang it on a wall as a decoration, since she can’t really use it anyway.
So here are the bed pictures- and you can see the wall behind it
And she already has her little bear in her bed and waiting for her!
Now today I have a baby shower to go to for my friend Sarah- which I’m excited about, showers are usually fun- and then we have a wedding this afternoon at 5. The wedding, I’m kind of iffy about. It’s one of Jonathon’s friends from college. I’m pretty sure he RSVP’d for our wedding and didn’t bother to show up, and he lives in Greenville so I’ve only met him once or twice. But I can’t really hold that against his wife, I guess… I was tempted to get them a crappy gift but then I felt guilty so I did something kind of in-between. The good thing is that Jonathon’s aunt and uncle and maybe one of his cousins will be there (who is our age and lives in Chicago) and of course some random friends from college… so at least there will be people to talk to.
My big concern is that my feet will hurt after being stuffed into my dress shoes. I haven’t worn them in a long time since I don’t have to dress up for work- and I know my feet are more swollen/bigger than before

Have you heard about crib bumper safety? http://babyproducts.about.com/od/recallsandsafety/a/bumpersafety.htm
Yeah, not worried. She won’t be rolling around anytime soon. And they look so pretty
The room looks great! The walls match the bedding perfectly. It’s such a sweet color that your little girl will be able to enjoy for a LONG time.
I hadn’t heard anything about bumper pad saftey until I read the above mentioned article. I’m not too worried about it either, since I know that our little one will probably be sleeping in the co-sleeper bassinet at the side of our bed when he/she is very small.
That article states: “Just like a pillow or thick blanket, crib bumper pads can restrict a baby’s breathing if the bumper is up next to the baby’s nose or mouth. Suffocation risk is greatest when babies are very young and unable to move themselves away from potential hazards.”
I’m pretty sure that by the time my baby is out of the bassinet and transitions to the crib, he/she will be big enough to move away from the bumper pad of his/her own free will. Our bassinet instructions say that the weight limit is 30lbs, but baby shouldn’t sleep in it anymore after he/she has enough motor skill to repeatedly roll around, pull itself up by the side rails, or climb onto the bed. Surely, a baby with that kind of mobility would not be at risk of suffocation from bumper pads, don’t you think?
I love, love, love the butterflies on that quilt! Beautiful!
