Playing dress-up at the mall

Filed Under Clothes, Nanny Job, Pregnancy | 2 Comments

So I have a funny story… the other day I took Alison (the little girl I nanny for) to the mall so that I can get a new bra. Yep, that’s what they pay me the big bucks for. Ha ha… But seriously, I couldn’t stand it anymore without more “support.”

I didn’t realize “support” was so NOT SEXY. It’s not. It involves something called “full coverage” and that’s a new one for me. Full coverage means your bra is having a war with your armpits and also covers half of your back.

I got measured for a bra. The lady told me a size that was like two whole sizes bigger than normal. I insisted on a remeasure but the numbers stayed the same. (And I’m not talking about the band here, I’m talking about cup size)!!! So this is my bragging moment.

She loads me down with about fifteen bras to try on and then Alison and I head in the dressing room. A few minutes later, she knocks on the door to ask if everything is okay. Alison says, “Tara and Alison playing dress-up!” So see, she WAS enjoying our outing! I think two year olds can make anything either fun or horrible for themselves depending on their mood.

I had a wide range of bras to choose from. Alison said, “Get the pink one. It’s pretty!” Trying to be sensible, I said, “What about the white one?” She said, “No, that’s UGLY!”

So even at the age of two, she knows that white underwear is NOT COOL. How does that happen?

In other news, I told the moms in our playgroup this morning that I am pregnant. Of course, they all already have their own kids but this is new for me! I was going to wait until Friday to tell them, but one of my friends wanted me to do it TODAY TODAY TODAY!

I also bought some of those extenders- its like more hooks so you can pay only a few bucks as opposed to a bunch of bras– and you can wear some pretty ones a little longer :) but nursing bras were much more comfortable.
